Eugene Feldman

1923 ~ 2017

Eugene "Gene" Feldman passed quietly on the morning of April 19, 2017, at the age of 94. He always thought he was going to reach 100, as his mother Rose did. He was born to Rose and Max Feldman in Newark, NJ, Feb 22, 1923, the youngest of 4 children. He had two brothers, Sam and Seymour and one sister, Helen. He and his wife of 58 years, Arline Harriet Siegel Feldman, deceased, had three children, Michael (Janet) Feldman, Frayda (Michael) Kleiman and Rochelle, deceased (Ken) Latteman, four grandchildren, Joe and John Feldman, Matthew (Laura) and David (Nina Dadlez) Kleiman and two great grandchildren Ariella and Nathan.

He served his country during WWII in the Army Medical Corp. He served in Africa, Italy, France and Germany, and was a translator rescuing the survivors of a number of concentration camps. After the war, he used the GI Bill to get his Bachelors from Ithaca College in accounting, met the love of his life, Arline Siegel and they married in 1948, settling in Newark, NJ, where they had their children. He became a Certified Public Accountant and worked until he was 72 years old, when he and Arline retired to Florida. They lived in Delray Beach until Arline passed in 2006. He moved to Utah in 2008.

He was a good man. He could tell the best jokes and he and Arline loved to dance. He played trumpet as a young man and was a big fan of Glen Miller and Artie Shaw. He was very responsible. He never wanted to be a bother to anybody. He took care of his whole extended family, his parents, siblings, in-laws, children and grandchildren as best as he could. You could always depend on Gene. He enjoyed being with his family and traveling. He and Arline visited Israel, Europe and Hawaii often. He loved food, always wanting to know what's cooking or where we were going for dinner. He even made it to breakfast just before he died.

A memorial service will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East Dimple Dell Road (10600 South) in Sandy. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Online condolences welcomed at www.larkincares.com.
