1924 ~ 2014

Our ever optimistic Lew Farr passed from this life peacefully with a song on his lips Wednesday, October 29th, 2014. He was loved by all who knew him.

Lewis was born in Ogden, Utah to Lawrence and Esther Shurtliff Farr on December 12, 1924. He sang before he could talk, and his beautiful voice was a gift of joy and love throughout his life. He moved to Salt Lake during his college years at the U of U and managed the Farr's Ice Cream Parlor on South Temple Street. While at the U of U, he pledged Sigma Chi and during a school production of Meet Mr. Wolf, he charmed a darling chorus girl and he and Marilynn Horne were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on October 9, 1947. (deceased). They raised four perfect children, Diana, Charlene, Meri Carol and Stephen. His sweetheart, Marilynn, passed away on June 24, 1996.

He married Marlene D. Howe in the Salt Lake Temple on October 12st 2010, and shared his later years of his life with his sweet singing companion.

Lewis was a World War II navy veteran who served with honor as a Lt. JG aboard the aircraft carrier, Shangri-La.

Lewis lived a life of honor and integrity filled with service to others. Serving as a Bishop in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints multiple times, he always saw the best in people and inspired them to become their very best. He brought hope to their souls. It was impossible to spend a minute with Lewis and not have a smile across your face. He enjoyed the good things this world had to offer.

And it was with his perfect timing and his great sense of humor that he ended his life on a high note. He was surrounded by those that loved him most on both sides of the veil as he passed.
