Angela Lola Riggs Brinkerhoff

1973 ~ 2019

Angela Lola (Riggs) Brinkerhoff, 45, of Sandy, Utah, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on January 11, 2019 at the Huntsman Cancer Institute in Salt Lake City, Utah after a courageous battle with cervical cancer.

"Angie" was born May 6, 1973, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Bill Riggs and Cleo C. (Carson) Riggs.

She attended Grantsville High School in Grantsville, Utah and later attended Utah State University, graduating with an Associate's degree in Physical Therapy.

Angie began working in the hospitality industry, which is where she met the love of her life, Kirk. Angie and Kirk were married on October 21, 2006 in Las Vegas, Nevada and continued to build their lives together in the Salt Lake City area. She later transitioned into the medical field and was working as a Hospital Credentialing Specialist at Intermountain Health Care (IHC) Hospital when she was diagnosed with cancer.

Angie loved animals and kids, and was a firm believer, the more the merrier. She and Kirk were blessed with four wonderful pups at first, and then two beautiful children she had waited for all her life. She enjoyed helping others, traveling, the great outdoors and being involved. She had a positive/cheerful attitude, never complained, and always met you with her beautiful smile. She had a love of life, and speed. From her younger days, she holds the distinct record of two speeding tickets in one day. She drove the family side by side the same way ‚ wild and fast. No trail was too steep or narrow. "Ang" is now on another trail that leaves those who love her behind. We will always cherish those special memories and that spirit lifting "hello" will ring in our ears until we meet again.

Angie is survived by her husband, Walter "Kirk" Brinkerhoff; two young children: daughter, Layla Cleo Brinkerhoff; son, Jase Kirk Brinkerhoff; father, Bill Riggs and wife Pat of Mustang, Oklahoma; siblings: Billy Riggs of Las Vegas, Nevada; Roxanne (Riggs) Chuck and husband Marty of Prospect, Connecticut; Alex Riggs and wife Jennifer of Norman, Oklahoma; Regan Riggs of Mustang, Oklahoma; Jeremiah Riggs of Mustang, Oklahoma; and many nieces and nephews; Kirk's family: father, Emil Brinkerhoff and mother, Lois Brinkerhoff of Bicknell, Utah; brother, Correy Brinkerhoff of Las Vegas, Nevada; brother, Chris Watson and wife Anna of Overton, Nevada; sister, Emily (Brinkerhoff) Stallman and husband Ted of New Harmony, Utah; sister, Sheri (Brinkerhoff) Wolfe and husband Grey of Las Vegas, Nevada; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Angie is preceded in death by her grandfather, Harold J. Carson; grandmother, Lola (Kirkman) Carson of Grantsville, Utah; mother, Cleo C. (Carson) Riggs of Grantsville, Utah; brother, Talley Riggs of Mustang, Oklahoma; and sister-in-law, Rhonda (Baker) Brinkerhoff.

We would like to thank all the people we had the privilege to meet and work with through this fight at IHC Oncology and the Huntsman Cancer Institute.
