Edgar Clark Speirs

1928 ~ 2013

E. Clark Speirs, our beloved father, grandfather, and uncle, passed away on October 9, 2013. He was born on April 7, 1928 in Salt Lake City, the son of Edgar Franklin and Ethel Seddon Speirs. He was a proud graduate of East High School. He was also a proud graduate of the University of Utah where he obtained a B.S. degree in Biology. He remained a huge fan of Utah basketball and football all his life. (Go Utes!) He married the love of his life, Marva Humphries, in 1950. Clark served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War as a medical lab technician, stationed in Olethe, Kansas. He worked over 40 years in the retail business and won numerous sales awards. He loved exploring for fossils, rocks, and minerals, especially in the middle of nowhere. He enjoyed fishing with friends and family. He loved playing bridge and achieved Life Master status. He also enjoyed classical and jazz music and reading. He loved discussing politics and current events and expressing his very strong opinions on those subjects.

Clark is survived by his children; Gerri (Marco) Herrera, Russell (Mary) Speirs, and Kevin; and by his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 14, 2013, at 12:00 Noon at Larkin Mortuary, (260 E. South Temple, Salt Lake City, Utah). A viewing will be held prior to the service from 11:00 to 11:45 AM. Interment will be at the Salt Lake City Cemetery.
