Jenshi Ogawa

1925 ~ 2014

Jenshi Ogawa was born on March 13, 1925 in Wilcox, Wyoming to Sampei Ogawa and Kimi Amako Ogawa. Jenshi was the youngest of 5 children. Three brothers and one sister. They lived in Park City where he attended Park City Elementary, Park City Jr. High School and graduated from Bingham High School in 1944.

Jenshi served in the Army from 1948 to 1950 at Ft. Ord and Ft. Benning. After the service he worked at a Grower's Market in Salt Lake and in 1953 he began working at the Bingham Copper Mine as a carpenter and heavy equipment operator for Kennecott.

When he was about 20 years old he met Fumi Kamaya at the Old Pagoda Restaurant and not long after on September 28, 1952 they got married in Elko, Nevada. They never had any children but became favorite Uncle and Aunt to the Kamaya and Hori Kids.

He loved to go Duck Pin Bowling and fishing. If anyone mentioned fishing he was right ready to go. Also, he enjoyed his many trips to Wendover.

In 1985 he retired from Bingham Copper Mine. He also worked part time painting, repairing and working at Growers Market.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Fumi, his sister Tsuneyo, brothers, Moriso, Mitsushi, and Saburo.

Survived by 8 brother and sister-in-laws and many nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

The family would like to give thanks to Amy Tomita for her special friendship with Jenshi this past thirteen years.

Funeral services will Saturday, December 13, 2014 at 11:00 AM in the Larkin Sunset Gardens Chapel, 1950 East Dimple Dell Drive Sandy, Utah. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Online condolences can be made at www.larkinmortuary.com.
