John Dee Wilcock

1939 ~ 2016

John Dee Wilcock passed away on April 25, 2016 in Bountiful, Utah, surrounded by loved ones.

He was born July 10, 1939 in North Creek, Beaver Co., Utah to John Elmer Wilcock and Mildred Geneva Green. He attended public schools in Milford, Utah, a 1957 MHS graduate. He served an honorable LDS mission in the Western States Mission, then continued his education at Southern Utah University and Utah State University, where he received his BA degree.

He taught art in Burns, Oregon and Hurricane, Utah, then moved to Salt Lake City where he was employed by the Utah State Department of Motor Vehicles, serving for many years as a driver's license examiner. It was here where he met Marvel Jonette Gasser, the love of his life, and they were married on April 15, 1975 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

He was a gifted and talented artist and loved going to the Golden Year Center, doing lapidary work. He brightened many people's lives with his beautiful jewelry, belt buckles, walking sticks, etc.

His grandchildren were the joy of his life; he loved traveling with them, exploring new places and learning new things. John enjoyed participating in Rendezvous and belonged to the Men of the Wasatch and Great Basin Brigade. He especially loved working with black powder and black powder guns.

John Dee was preceded in death by his parents and his wife. He is survived by his son, Colton Kelly Wilcock, Teresa Wilcock and their children Kevin and Michelle Wilcock, all of Woods Cross, Utah, Sisters: Patricia Griffiths of Murray and Judith (Ross) Workman of West Valley City, Utah, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Viewing: Friday, April 29, 2016, from 6 to 8 at Larkin Mortuary, 260 E. South Temple, Salt Lake City, and Saturday from 10:30 to 11:30 at the Orchard 10th Ward, 3317 South 800 West, Bountiful, Utah.

There will be a graveside service on Saturday, April 30, 2016, at the Bountiful City Cemetery, 2224 South 200 West, at 12 noon.
