Marilyn Gay Wood Robinson

1935 ~ 2015

Our beautiful Marilyn Gay Wood Robinson passed away in the first minute of Wednesday morning at midnight, an ideal hour for embarking on new adventures. She was born to Rex P. Wood and Winnifred Caldwell in Salt Lake City, on March 10, 1935. She married Joseph Lawrence Robinson in the Salt Lake LDS Temple at the age of eighteen and lived primarily in California and Washington states. She always wanted to return to her beloved Utah mountains and was able to do so for the last five years of her life.

A sparkling wit and a kind disposition made her the best of daughters, sisters, wives and mothers. Her children always felt she'd rather be with them than anyone else, and she always took them along whenever she could. We all felt we were her favorite (but it was really me).

She loved music, played the piano, and sang like an angel crossed with Doris Day. She painted, cooked beautifully and was happiest in nature. As a faithful LDS member, she performed many roles throughout her life, but the best thing about Gay was her unique capacity for love, her luminous personality, boundless charity and self-sacrifice even to a fault.

We will miss her dearly.

She is survived by her sister Judith Ann Wood, children Geri Lynn Foreman, Lawrence Spencer Robinson, Cheryl Gay Robinson, Diana Althea Feli√∫, Michelle Marie Hubbard and David Rex Robinson. She also leaves a legacy of eleven particularly wonderful grandchildren and one certain to be equally as wonderful great-grandchild expected in August.

She joins her loving husband Larry, who passed away five years ago from Parkinson's disease and whom we are sure has been waiting for her eagerly and probably calling her name all this time.

Gay's funeral will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 18, 2015 at the Garden Stake Center located at 1028 West 1000 North, Pleasant Grove, Utah. The viewing will be held at 9:30-10:30 AM prior to the services at the church. She will be interred at Larkin Sunset Gardens cemetery in Sandy, Utah.
