Celebrating Our Superhero: AJ Tui Toia

Every hero has an origin story…
AJ Tui Toia was born on March 20, 2010, in Salt Lake City, Utah — a bright and joyful boy destined to change the world with his heart. On November 26, 2025, at 1:04 p.m., AJ completed his mission here on earth at Primary Children’s Hospital, surrounded by the greatest team of heroes he could ever have — his family.
AJ didn’t just love superheroes… he became one.
He loved baseball and the Marvel universe, and above them all, Spider-Man was his favorite — the hero who taught us that courage, kindness, and love are the greatest superpowers of all. AJ lived those powers every day.
Even when life threw challenges no child should face — his battle with neuroblastoma beginning at age five — AJ stood strong.
Treatments may have weakened his body, but they never dimmed his spirit. His family rallied around him as his ultimate superhero team:
• Dad, Toia — Strong like a shield.
• Mom, Mary — Full of love that never quit.
• Marlynn — His best-friend sister and sidekick.
• Mataleiah — The wild and brave sister who made him laugh.
• Mardiannah — His princess who filled his days with sunshine.
• And Oreo — His faithful furry sidekick.
Their home became a base of love, strength, and faith — because superheroes don’t fight alone. And with God as their source of power, they never gave up. Not once.
AJ was gentle, funny, caring, and strong. He taught us that true heroism isn’t found in flying, swinging from buildings, or wearing a mask… It’s found in love, bravery, and a heart that keeps fighting.
Though his mission on Earth has ended, AJ has received the greatest homecoming — healed, whole, and celebrating with Jesus, the Greatest Hero of All. Now AJ soars higher than any superhero ever could.
