1992 ~ 2025
Friday Nov 7, 2025: 3:00 PM - 4:00 PM
Alex Johnson, 33, went home to heaven on November 4, 2025. He was a kind-hearted, witty, and long-suffering man who finally found rest after a two-and-a-half-year battle with stage four colon\liver cancer. Valiant and brave through every painful moment, he often thanked his oncologist for the extra time his treatments gave him with his family.
Born on October 21, 1992, in Sandy, Utah, to his loving parents, Ryan and Lori Johnson, Alex joined his older sister, Alexus, in a tight-knit family that cherished hiking, biking, racing, and camping.
Shortly after graduating from Alta high school, Alex proudly served in the US Army Reserves, deploying to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, in 2014 and 2019. He received an honorable discharge after nine years of dedicated service.
Following his final military deployment, Alex attended the Utah Police Academy and joined the Utah State Hospital police force. The family extends special thanks to his colleagues at the hospital for their gracious support throughout this ordeal.
Cars were Alex’s passion; he owned countless vehicles throughout his life. He adored his parents, who remained constantly by his side, and he loved them deeply. His girlfriend, Kelsey, cherished and supported him until the very end.
Alex leaves behind his parents; his sister, Alexus Delvie (Ryan); his niece, Olivia; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins who will miss him dearly. He was preceded in death by his Johnson grandparents, Ray and Norma Johnson; his grandpa, Richard Teper; and his cousins, Sergeant Derek Johnson and Cheyenne Bagley.
Alex requested that everyone dress casually and comfortably at his services – he’ll be in a hoodie himself.
In lieu of flowers, Alex and his family requests you plant a tree in his memory. Memorial trees to the specific region requested can be arranged at https://shop.alivingtribute.org/products/plant-a-tree-michigan
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm on Friday, November 7, 2025 at Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary, 1950 E. Dimple Dell Road (10600 South) in Sandy, Utah. A viewing will be held prior to services beginning at Noon. Interment will follow in the Larkin Sunset Gardens Cemetery.

Ryan & Lori,
I cannot find words to express how sorry I am for your loss of sweet Alex.
He was truly an amazing guy with a kind heart and wicked sense of humor!
I sincerely pray for peace and comfort for your hearts.
Much love,
Kim
There aren’t enough words. I’m sooo sooo sorry. Many fond memories up on Timoney of the Johnsons. Your darling family and Alex & Alexis. Ryan’s gift of construction & Lori’s love of dogs & her beautiful creations.
I know you were and continue to be one of the best families I’ve ever known.
Sending my love.
Long hugs
And prayers as you begin to wade though waves of grief.
With much love,
Sandi (Thank you for loving Tessa)
I am so deeply sorry for your loss. He was kind and generous to my son, Taylor Dipo when they were in school together. Sending you love and peace.
I had the privilege of having SPC Johnson in my squad when we were deployed to Cuba in 2014. I will say this, Johnson kept me on my toes. He had this innocence about him that was just so funny. He struggled with his 2 mile run so he and I ran often.
I lost touch with AJ after a few years but seeing someone so young and full of life and potential taken from us breaks my heart!
All the family and friends have my condolences. I am sitting here in my garage and this has absolutely taken the wind out of me.

Rest in Peace my brother! I had the pleasure of serving with him on his last deployment and he always brought a smile into a serious place! You will be missed! ❤️
I'm so heartbroken to hear about Alex's passing. Alex was a kind and genuine person. Always calm, soft-spoken, and thoughtful-yet incredibly strong and dedicated to his work. He gave so much of himself to protect others and always went above and beyond, not because he had to, but because he cared.
He had a sweet and funny way that made everyone feel at ease, even on the hardest days. Working with him was a privilege, and I'll always remember his quiet strength and the goodness he carried in everything he did.
He made a difference in so many lives, and I feel so lucky to have known him. My heart and prayers are with his family and everyone that loved him. He will be so deeply missed.
I had the pleasure of serving with him in 2014. One thing I learned about him very quickly was that he never took things too seriously and it seemed like he always had an infectious smile on his face. Sleep well, brother.
I’m so sorry for your loss. I really loved Alex, he would come to the switchboard and chat with me on Sundays. I miss him
Our sympathy, prayers and love are with you all.
Alex's bright smile and kind heart made every day better for those around him. His laugh, love and his light will always be a part of us. He will forever be loved and forever will be in our hearts.
Ryan, Lori, Lexi, it was with incredible sadness I learned of, Alex passing today. It was an honor to know, Alex and he was never without his quick wit. This breaks our family's heart. The world lost a good one. Be well and GodSpeed.

Godspeed Alex, you will be missed. But I only knew you for a short time. You touched us with your generosity and help while you were sick.
