Listen to Obituary

Sandy, UT– Alicia Lopez Castillo passed away in her home in the company of her loving family on Tuesday, December 9th, at the age of 51.

Alicia was born on September 21st, 1974, in Naranjo de Chila, Michoacan, Mexico, to father Eliceo Lopez and mother Lucinda Rosales. She grew up there with her parents and siblings until she migrated to Los Angeles, California, where she attended Santa Monica High School. After living in Los Angeles, California, she moved to Sandy, UT, in 1999, with her two eldest sons, Mario and Tony. Here, she gave birth to her youngest son, Alberto. Her family was her life, but she was also a community builder, developing life-long friendships, caring for others, and coming together. If you ask anyone, Alicia was also the life of the party. She would host the most amazing family parties, inviting everyone to the dance floor with her to dance the night away.

Alicia was beloved by her colleagues, and a community especially near to her heart includes her Chuck E. Cheese coworkers, whom she met when she started working there in the year 2000. Alicia eventually became the manager and worked there until it closed in 2014. She then worked at Allstar Lanes and The Gathering Place at Gardner Village. Everyone who worked with her loved her so much that they continued to be friends even after she retired in 2018 to be a full-time grandma.

Alicia married her current husband, Alejandro Castillo, on February 15, 2013. As a family, they loved spending time together, and she would plan numerous family trips to places like Lava Hot Springs, Yellowstone, and several national parks across the country. Alicia was also a devout Catholic who would do anything to help others. She led several rosary groups, prayer groups, attended mass regularly, and would celebrate the Virgen de Guadalupe every year.

Alicia is survived by her husband, Alejandro Castillo, three sons, Mario, Tony, and Alberto Tapia, step-daughter, Adamary Castillo, daughters-in-law, Lili Mariche Tapia and Michelle Cab, and her five grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings, Herminia Lopez, Maria Lopez, Manuel Lopez, Gabriel Lopez, and Francisco Lopez. She is preceded in death by her parents and older brother, Daniel Lopez.

If you would like to attend Alicia’s service, please join her family on Monday, December 15, 2025, at Larkin Sunset Gardens from 2 to 8 pm. Mass will be held at 3 pm.

In her honor, let us pray:

Dios te salve, María,

Llena eres de gracia,

el Señor es contigo.

Bendita tú eres entre todas las mujeres,

y bendito es el fruto de tu vientre, Jesús.
