Obituary

Alma Dahlsrud DeLoney, age 105, passed away peacefully on June 5, 2026, in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Born in 1920 to Henry Alma and Cornelia Peterson Dahlsrud in Salina, Utah. Alma was raised in small communities where her father served as a teacher and school principal. She carried those roots and values throughout her life.

Alma devoted her career to education as an elementary school teacher and librarian in Salt Lake City. Generations of students remembered her with affection and gratitude long after leaving her classroom.

A faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Alma loved missionary work, family history, and serving others. She was known for her kindness, perseverance, and unwavering devotion to family.

Alma cared for her widowed mother for many years and remained a source of strength to those around her throughout a long and remarkable life.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Hyrum DeLoney; her parents; her brother, Tony Dahlsrud; granddaughters Allison Hutchison and Barbara Black; and son-in-law James Black.

She is survived by her children, Carma Black, Charles DeLoney, and Richard (Jen) DeLoney; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; three nieces and many other family members, former students, and dear friends.

Funeral services will be held July 18, 2026, at the Neffs Canyon Ward, 4176 Adonis Drive, Salt Lake City, Utah. Viewing will be from 10:30 to 11:40 a.m., followed by funeral services at 12:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.

The family invites all who knew and loved Alma to join in celebrating her life of faith, service, education, and family devotion.
