Floyd Moses Childs

1933 ~ 2017

Floyd Moses Childs, 84, was born September 14, 1933 to Russell Clay Childs and Clara Mae (Cornaby) Childs in Springville, Utah. He passed away November 11, 2017. Floyd learned to work at a young age on the small dairy farm his family owned and taught these values to his children and grandchildren. As a young man he was active in school sports and later served proudly in the army during the Korean War. On September 14, 1956 he married Judy Bennett in the Salt Lake Temple and together they were the loving parents of two children, Kevin and Bonnie. He attended technical college and in 1963 he, along with several partners started United Precision Machine and Engineering Company, a successful machining business. He retired in 2001. Floyd enjoyed visits from his children and grandchildren. He had a great love of cars and could usually be found polishing one of them. He enjoyed traveling, camping, riding 3 wheelers (later his golf cart), fixing his Farmall tractor and was a passionate supporter of BYU sports.Throughout his life Floyd was an active member of the LDS faith and served faithfully in a variety of callings.

Floyd is survived by a son Kevin (Jeri) Childs, and daughter Bonnie (Kevin) Mackay, 7 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Judy Bennett Childs, brothers Ardeen, Fred, Dale, Devere, and sisters Delores (Crandall) and Carolee (Newman).

Funeral services will be held Friday, November 17, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 E. Dimple Dell Road (10600 S.) Sandy Utah. Friends may call Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM or Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 AM at the mortuary. Interment, Larkin Sunset Gardens.
