Amie Lee Jeffs

1968 ~ 2023

Amie Lee Jeffs (Toomer), 55, passed away in her home in Sandy, UT on October 17th, 2023. She was born on June 5th, 1968 to Cathie Woods in Sandy UT.

She spent most of her life with her devoted husband, Ricky Lee Jeffs. They met early on in their life in school and continued to spend the rest of Amie’s life together. Their lives were filled with three daughters, dogs, and cats despite Ricky’s objections because Amie loved cats so much. A fond memory of Amie is her bringing home two cats from outside of the store, coming home on the dash of the car because it was a spur-of-the-moment decision to bring them home. Her love of animals was always deep and unwavering, just like her mom’s love of animals.

While her death was unexpected, Amie suffered from alcoholism which eventually claimed her life. We are grateful that when she passed, she was safe and at her home of the last 25 years. It is impossible to capture a person in an obituary, and especially someone whose life was largely defined and altered by her addiction. Unfortunately, after two years of sobriety, Amie relapsed and did not take advantage of the resources provided to get sober again. Her family will forever wonder what she could have been, if she had not been afflicted with this disease. We all know that she wanted to be an incredible mother, daughter, wife, and Grammie but was never able to achieve sobriety and realize her full potential. Addiction is not a choice or a weakness. People who are struggling with addiction need and deserve your empathy and support. We take comfort in knowing that Amie is surrounded by light, free from the struggle that haunted her. We would have given anything for her to experience that freedom in this lifetime. Our grief over losing her is infinite.

Amie is survived by her husband Ricky Lee Jeffs, mother Cathie Woods, chosen father Kenneth Woods, and daughters Nikki Lee Hunter, Courtnie Forsyth and recently found son Jonathan Kirk. She also had loving extended family in Zachary Hunter (Son-in-law), grandchildren Dezirae Hunter and Harvey Hunter, and Shawn Forsyth (Son-in-law). Countless other cousins, aunts, uncles, friends and family also loved her. Although everyone listed above loved her very much, keep in mind that Amie’s favorite people in the world were her grandchildren. She doted on them every chance she got and took every opportunity to make sure they knew that Grammie is thinking of them, and that they are loved.

Amie is preceded in death by her youngest daughter, Katie Lynn Jeffs and grandparents.

Her cremation took place and she will be laid to rest when the time comes with her husband in the same burial plot. They will live in the afterlife, as they did in this one, together forever. A formal service will not be held for her at this time as the family will remember and honor her in their own way.
