Obituary
Andrew Louis Peters 1937-2026 Our loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend passed away on October 21, 2026. Andrew was born in Babinda, Queensland, Australia on August 15, 1937, to Andreas Panayi (Andrew Peters) and Madge Violet Buderus. He married Ruth Diana Orr on November 7, 1959, in Cairns, Queensland, Australia. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple in 1968.
Andrew converted to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and immigrated to the United States settling in Salt Lake City in March 1968. Andrew had five children with his wife Ruth; he loved Ruth and his children very much. He was an active member of the LDS church where he served in various callings; at the time of his death, he was a High Priest. He had an ardent testimony of the LDS faith and was especially active in family history and temple work. He and Ruth provided great service to St. Joseph’s Villa for several years as service missionaries, caring for the residents with utmost dignity, compassion, and respect.
He is survived by his five children: Helen; Matthew (Brenda Wadsworth); Mark (Shawna) of Modesto, California; Diana (Tom); of Gig Harbor, Washington; and Barbara. Ruth and Andew have 11 grandchildren: Kyle (Jessica), Kristopher, Kendall (Kelsey), Kelly (Samantha), Kody (Marissa), Kasey (Kayla), Andrew, Emily (Brody), J, A and D; and four great-grandchildren: Katelynne (deceased), Mark, Wesley, Wrenly. Andrew had four brothers: John (Rehka) Peters, Charles George (Beverly) Peters; Eric George (Irene) Peters, and David (June) Peters; and two sisters: Marguerite (Con) Rozakis, Ethel (David) Colton. Andrew’s brother-in-law is Thomas (Dorothy) Orr. Preceded in death by his wife Ruth, parents and granddaughter Katelynne, brothers: John, Charles, Eric; and brother-in-law, Con.
