  • Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, Annabea Anderson passed away on Saturday, August 14, 2021.

Her parents were Hugh Sylvester and Beatrice Davidson Wayman. Annabea was the wife of Vernal Lemore Anderson and married him on a beautiful sunny Valentine's Day in the Salt Lake Temple, 1947.

Annabea was born on her mother’s birthday, May 4, 1922, in Evanston, Wyoming. She was her mother’s only daughter. They were very dear to each other, talking to each other on the phone at least once every day. Annabea followed her mother’s example of compassionate service and love for her family and all those around her.

Annabea lived in 12 different houses before she was married. Her favorite home however was the one her husband built for her in Sandy where they lived together for 62 years. It was so hard for her to leave the place she and Vernal raised their family. Her daughter felt it such a privilege and an honor for Annabea to finally consent to move in with her and her husband.

Annabea graduated from Murray High School where she became interested in writing poetry while in a Creative Writing class. She went on to write many beautiful, thoughtful and expressive poems. She was a member of the Utah State Poetry Society and one of her poems was published in the book Utah Sings.

Annabea loved to collect dolls. Many family members brought her a doll when they returned from a trip. She was so excited whenever she received a new one.
Annabea’s greatest accomplishment was her family. She loved them all so much. Visiting with her family was her greatest joy in life.

She was a devoted member of The Christ of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Some of the areas she served: Gleaner teacher, Young Women’s President, Relief Society President, Genealogy specialist, Ward Librarian and Ward Newspaper editor.

Annabea was a voracious reader of books. She loved books about or by church leaders, historical books, books about famous people and poetry. Sometimes she would read the last few pages of the book first.

Annabea enjoyed sending birthday cards and thank you notes to her friends and family and had quite the collection of cards ready for her signature.
Annabea is survived by her children Wayne (Beverly), Sharon Bea (Leon) Kotter, Tim (Caralun) and Karen (Gary) Koford, 20 grandchildren and 61 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death, by her sweetheart Vernal Lemore Anderson and her sons (Little) Hugh Morris Anderson, DeMar Anderson and a daughter in-law Sharon.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 28, 2021, beginning at 12:00 noon at the Riverton 8th Ward building, 12340 South 2700 West in Riverton, Utah. A viewing will be held at the same location Friday August 27th, from 6-8 PM and an hour prior to the services on Saturday. Interment to follow at Larkin Sunset Gardens Cemetery in Sandy.

Recorded Funeral services may be viewed by clicking the blue box “Watch Services” button at the top of Annabea's obituary.

    Guestbook/Condolences

We also talked about Murray High school where we both went. My grandchildren loved to go visit her and play with her toys she had. She was so unselfish and if someone needed something she would give you anything she could. She was such a Christ Like woman and she will be an angel watching over her family especially her dear sweet daughter, Karen, who took such great care of her. She told me many times how wonderful her daughter is. I am so grateful for everything Annabea taught me. Much love to all of the family members.

We are so sorry for your loss. Annabea was such a wonderful example to me. I loved sitting with her and read her poetry and the song she wrote. She had an amazing sense of humor and we would laugh all the time. She loved Hershey's kisses with almonds in them and it was so fun to surprise her with Kentucky fried Chicken. She was a great record keeper and I would love to sit with her and see her posterity. She was an amazing woman and we loved her so much.

I love my mother so much!
“Mother dear I love you so! Your happy smiling face is such a joy to look at. It makes home a lovely place”. Our home is empty without you. I am too young to be without a mother. I miss you so. Everything I did for you was always followed by a “thank you! Thank you! Thank you” When I would give you your breakfast you would always say how good it looked. This hole in my heart hurts. I love you!
