Listen to Obituary
Anthony Smith Banks, age 80, passed away peacefully on May 2, 2025, in South Jordan, Utah. Born on March 26, 1945, in Lehi, Utah, Anthony's life was a testament to resilience, service, and unwavering faith.
From humble beginnings marked by hardship and limited means, Anthony rose to become a successful entrepreneur and respected businessman. His passion for heavy equipment-particularly Caterpillar machinery-fueled a lifelong career as an independent heavy equipment dealer. Through determination and hard work, he built a legacy that not only supported his family but also inspired many of his sons to follow in his footsteps within the same industry.
Anthony was known for his sharp intellect, quick wit, and remarkable ability to solve problems. Whether it was repairing a stranger's furnace at his own expense or rescuing his son's friend's vehicle from a mud bog, he approached every challenge with ingenuity and generosity. He found joy in serving others and did so with humility and humor—a combination that endeared him to all who knew him.
A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Anthony held fast to his testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ. His faith was not just professed but lived daily through countless acts of kindness and quiet service. He exemplified Christian discipleship in both word and deed.
Anthony is survived by his beloved wife Connie-his eternal companion; his sister Ellen; and eight children: Stan (Lana), Stewart (Amie), Charlotte, Jeremy, Lynnette (Ryan), Brandon (Karee), Nathan (Jill), and Shaun (Katie). He also leaves behind many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and step-children who carry forward his legacy of strength and compassion.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Donna—his eternal companion and mother of his five biological children-as well as his second wife Dianne-his eternal companion and mother of his 3 adoptive children. He is also preceded by his sister Carmen, niece Rachel, and many other cherished ancestors.
The family sends our best regards and most sincere offering of gratitude to the loving staff of Riverway Assisted Living and Memory Care who cared for Anthony for the final year of his life.
Anthony Smith Banks leaves behind a legacy defined by love for family, dedication to faith, tireless work ethic, and a heart always ready to serve. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him and inspiration to all who hear his story.
