Anthony (Tony) Barela, 77, passed away on February 01, 2024. With his loving family by his side. He was born on January 28, 1947 in Santa Fe New Mexico. He was a proud resident of Salt Lake City, Utah.
Tony was predeceased by his father Lafayette Barela and his mother Beatrice Barela (Gallegos). His brothers George Barela, Michael Barela, Charlie Barela, Joe Lopez, Archie Lopez, Tory Lopez and his sister Lori Duran (Lopez). Tony leaves behind his wife Rita Barela (Cohoe) and one daughter Tasha Barela, and one Granddaughter Gabriela Barela who he loved dearly. Many nephews and nieces.
Tony worked for the Federal Reserve Bank in maintenance. Where he later retired from. Tony had an enormous heart and wonderful sense of humor. Tony was the most positive person in anyone’s life. Tony never stopped making people smile and laugh. He will be remembered for all the love he shared with his friends and family. He truly loved each of them and if you knew him, you knew it. Tony made everyone’s life more special by his kindness and care.
A funeral service will be held in their honor at 2:00 p.m. on Friday February 9th at Larkin Mortuary 260 E South Temple Salt Lake City, Utah 84111. Following with a burial at SLC cemetery and back to Larkin mortuary for dinner. A rosary and viewing will be held at 6:00pm to 8:00pm on Thursday February 8th at Larkin Mortuary, Rosary will begin at 7pm.
