Ardis Ruby Schlesselman Evans, 91, of Salt Lake City, Utah passed away on Friday, March 27, 2026. She was born on July 25,1934 in Flagler, Colorado. She was the daughter of John Frederick Deiterich Schlesselman an Martha Margret Lippstreu Schlesselman.
Ardis was a devoted wife/mother/grandmother/great grandmother who was known for her determination, resilience and sense of humor. She married David Duane Evans on October 25, 1951 in Salt Lake City, Utah, later divorced. She is survived by her daughters: Debra (Scott) Lutz, Bonita (Jim) Hadley, Mary (Mark) Templeman, and Shirley (Kelly) Wells, 9 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents and her siblings, Frederick, Esther, Elaine and Doris.
Ardis attended Sidney High School in Sidney, Nebraska and Salt Lake Community College. She worked for many years in the accounting department for the Division of Wildlife Resources for the State of Utah. She took great joy in spending time with her family, caring for her home, her beloved dogs, and her church. She loved to travel and especially loved the cruises she went on.
As her memory started to fade she had to give up her home and move into IvyBrook Assisted Living where they lovingly cared for her for many years. She loved to joke with the residents and staff and often had a big smile on her face. When the staff would come to give her her medications she would laugh and say “I hope that’s a shot of whiskey you're giving me!”
We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the staff of IvyBrook Assisted Living, to her Nurse Practitioner Helena Class-Alexander from Zeal Medical, and to Mark Lopez from Health Watch Hospice for the amazing care they provided to her and our family during her illness.
A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, April 16th from 6:00 - 8:00 pm in the Chateau Greenhouse at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East 10600 South, Sandy, Utah. As per her request her ashes will be placed in Oregon. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Humane Society of Utah.
