Before I entered the MTC, I stayed with the Post family for about a week. I felt so welcomed by everyone and so at home. I remember that time very fondly because leaving home was daunting but I didn't feel alone because of the kindness I was shown.
What I remember most are the chats I had with Ashley when we hung out together. We spent hours talking and laughing together.
Even if you don't always remember what was said, you remember what you felt. With Ashley I felt that she was one of the kindest people I had ever met. She was so lovely and in high spirits all the time. I was in awe of her and still am.

Obituary
Ashley Lynn Post passed away on September 22, 2026, in Riverton, Utah, at home with her loving parents by her side. She was born on January 18, 1996, in Salt Lake City to Joseph Cram Post and Karen Hague Post. Her life was a testament to resilience and love. Born with hydrocephalus and a collapsed lung, she was not expected to make it through the night. Her Uncle Tom called her “Angel” before the night was through, and the nickname stuck for the rest of her life.
Ashley defied the odds from the beginning. Her 30 years were marked by medical challenges, including more than 30 surgeries, which she faced with a spirit of determination and grit that defined her. She always came home to a loving family of parents and siblings who cherished her and supported her every need.
Ash spent her first three years on Downington Avenue in Salt Lake City. Her older siblings Alisa, Joe, and James were so excited for her finally to be home after 10 days in the NICU. In the coming years, Ash spent many days and nights up at Primary Children's Hospital, whether it was for surgeries, doctor’s appointments, or physical or occupational therapy. She was truly blessed to live so close to such an excellent hospital for babies and children.
When Ashley’s younger brother, Nathan, was born, she found an immediate friend and lifelong companion. The two of them were inseparable and shared a special bond as sister and brother. Nathan called Ashley his best friend—evidence of the good times and life experiences they shared.
Ash then spent the next 18 years in the Millcreek area. She made dear friends there and later attended Highland High School (She was so proud to be a Highland Ram, just like her sister, Alisa!). Ashley loved the Millcreek area. It allowed her to be so close to the mountains that it was very common for the family to jump in the car for a quick ride to the canyons.
As Ashley grew, so did her abilities and interests. She attended public schools and developed a passion for soccer, playing on many teams through the Salt Lake County recreation system. Ashley was a member of the Highland High Pep Club and fondly remembered her time in choir. It was at Highland that she developed her love of photography; she took a photography class through the high school down at the SLCC South Campus, and she was so excited to be able to be in the same halls where her mom and dad had met in high school. Her interest in photography led her to enter her art in the state fair many times, bringing home ribbons for her efforts.
Ashley found immense happiness in her close friendship with Kylie Pack Walter. Together, they formed enduring memories of kindness and fun throughout the milestones of their lives.
Among Ashley’s diverse hobbies and interests were her favorite boy bands, F1 racing, and a long list of movie and TV franchises: Dr. Who, Star Wars, the Lord of the Rings, the Nightmare Before Christmas, Harry Potter, and The Fast and The Furious—just to name a few. She was also a dedicated supporter of the Hydrocephalus Association and the Epilepsy Foundation.
Ashley is survived by her loving parents, Joe and Karen Post, and her siblings, Alisa Fawn McArthur (Euan), Joseph William Victor Post (Annie), James Taylor Post (Katie), and Nathan Hague Post. She is also remembered by her five nieces and three nephews: Eleanor, Charlotte, Olivia, Amelia, Fergus, Callum, Violet, and Henry. Ashley's life was enriched by many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins who played a vital role in her ability to thrive.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Don and Lorna Hague, and Bill and Sara Post. She was also preceded in death by her uncles Ed Lindquist, Hack Post, Billy Post, and John Post, along with her uncle Kevin Hague and his wife, Judy, and her cousin Cameron Hague. Her dear cousin Mandy Hague Hardman passed away just two days after Ashley.
A celebration of Ashley’s life will be held at the Riverton 12th Ward, 12459 South Dansie Way, Riverton, Utah, 84065, at 12:00 pm on October 3rd, 2026. A public visitation will commence at 10:30 am on the morning of the services at the same location. In honor of Ashley, attendees are encouraged to wear blue, her favorite color.

Tributes
Ashley’s wit and love for life was contagious. Growing up around Ash gave me a perspective about family bonds and caring for one another that I cherish to this day. My heart is heavy knowing she is no longer here. I feel grateful to Ashley for the love she had for me, even when we were teens and I was immature and not always deserving of her affection. I can clearly remember scenes from our Valley View ward building—Ashley chasing after Nathan as he barreled towards me for a bear hug—she catches up, pries him off me, then gives me a bear hug, too. I miss those hugs. I miss those days. Heaven surely rejoices at the return of sweet Ash. To the Posts I send all my love.
What a joy and a light sweet Ashley was! I met her when she was just 6 years old, and she was the most adorable and cuddly little friend. She had so much enthusiasm and energy, and never stopped giving hugs. Loved that sweet girl. So so sorry for the loss to the rest of you guys. So much love to your whole family!! 🩵
I had the privilege of working with Ashley months before she passed. I remember we did some art together, and i really enjoyed that. Despite a lot of her pain, and the situation she found herself in, i found myself laughing and joking with her. She was lighthearted, and was kind. Im sure she will bring that same light to the next life, same as the light she brought to this one.
We loved living across the street from the Post Family as a young couple, and remember when Ashley was born. With all the health challenges she faced, she could not have had a more wonderful family – siblings, parents and grandparents – to love her and share her life with.
We send our love and peace to the extended Post and Hague family and hope you find joy remembering her remarkable life and infectious, enthusiastic spirit.
With love - Soren & Heather
We’re so grateful to have Ashley and her family in our lives! What a blessing you’ve all been. Ashley, we love you and can’t wait to be with you again!
Dear Ashley,
I just wanted to tell you how deeply sorry I am that you are gone. The first time I met you, I remembered meeting you in middle school and during those times while we were kids, I enjoyed your presence and I loved hanging out with you. I remembered last time we hung out, we met each other at Sugar House Park and took silly pictures while we were much younger. Even though we didn't see each other a lot, you were a really good friend and I think part of me was lucky to have a friend like you. Right now, I hope you're in a better place. You will always be in my heart. ❤️
I have so enjoyed my time with the Posts and visits with Ashley at her home and my last visit with her at the hospital. We had great talks, all of us together about movies and music. She will be missed by all of us who love her but I know she was welcomed on the other side with arms held wide to greet her return. It is hard to understand as we grieve her loss the amount of joy that is felt on the other side at her return, the love and return to health she now knows.
I known Ashley to be very kind to everyone in The Hague family she will be missed was a miracle and an inspiration to us all and the family and will be missed. I gave greatest sympathy to my aunt Karen and my uncle Joey may God bless and through this time as I reflect on her life and celebrate her.
I grew up just a house away on Downington and remember when Ashley was born. I learned so much and saw how small a package strength could be packed into. My dad and Big Joey were lifelong friends and I know he considered Ashley one of his adopted daughters. So at least we know he’s up there looking out for her till we all meet again. Love you guys.
My heart breaks for you all at this time. My family & I give our deepest condolences. Ash was a power & I enjoyed my time with her silly, positive & loving energy! Our thoughts & prayers are with you ❤️💋🤟🙏
Im so sorry for your loss, i remember young Ashley when i was just a kid, God bless her and your family.
