Ashlyn Marie Turner

We are saddened to announce the passing of Ashlyn Turner, age 20, on Wednesday, June 28, 2023. She passed peacefully from this life into the next in the arms of her mom and dad after a long battle with Battens Disease. They are so proud of her courage and resilience in the face of so much suffering. Ashlyn’s parents are Jarom and Tina Turner of Herriman, Utah. She lived at home with them and her 3 brothers, Davis, Brock, and Clint. Ashlyn was born in Cary, North Carolina, and enjoyed living in Franklinton, North Carolina, Hiram, Georgia, Castle Rock, Colorado, Quincy, Washington, and finally Herriman, Utah.

From the beginning, Ashlyn and her dad have enjoyed an incredibly close bond. He was and is her biggest love. She was adored by her brothers and enjoyed doing all the girlie things with her mom. Ashlyn came into this world with the calmest, sweetest disposition. She was easily the family favorite. She enjoyed playing with Barbies when she was younger, and then fell in love with all things Disney, specifically Toy Story, Tangled, and Frozen. She would sing out loud for hours to her favorite music, which included Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift, and of course, Disney songs. She listened to Junie B. Jones and Magic Treehouse books for years. Her favorite place was the beach where she would search endlessly for seashells and had to bring every one of them home. We are grateful for the enjoyment these things provided for her. Ashlyn loved her extended family and especially loved the hours both of her grandmothers would read to her. She had many cousins that she loved and created many happy memories with.

Ashlyn was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She participated in Primary and Youth activities when she was well enough to do so. She loved singing primary songs and had a deep faith in her Savior, Jesus Christ.
Ashlyn attended school primarily in the Quincy, Washington School District, as well as the Jordan School District at Kauri Sue Hamilton. Ashlyn made many friends at both locations. She received incredible support from teachers/staff and developed close relationships with them and the many therapists and other specialists that worked with her.

We’d like to express our sincerest thanks for the compassionate care rendered by Ashlyn’s Hospice team. We are grateful for their knowledge, skill, and patience as we navigated this impossible path.

Ashlyn’s funeral with be held Thursday, July 6, 2023 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, located at 14398 S 6400 W Herriman, Utah at 11:00 a.m. There will be a viewing prior to services from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. All are welcome.

In lieu of flowers, (there won’t be a graveside) please consider donating to Ashlyn’s Memorial Fund ( Venmo @Tina-Turner-95 ) or make a donation in her honor to Make a Wish ( https://wish.org/).
