Athena (Tena) Frankos Sdrales passed away peacefully at home in her sleep on August 3, 2024 at age 95 of natural causes. Tena was born January 17, 1929 to Panayiotis (Peter) and Mable Marie Frankos. She was raised in Magna, Utah, and attended Cyprus High School, where she was valedictorian for her graduating class. In 1951 she married Tom Sdrales, and they shared seventy-two years together until his passing on March 1, 2024.

She was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. Tena worked at Mountain Bell prior to her marriage, and later as a manager for AT&T for many years. She lived most of her adult life in Holladay, Utah, and later in Sandy. Tena loved spending time with her family, gardening, cooking, reading and enjoying the outdoors. She remained sharp and quite active for her age up until a few days before her passing.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Tom; her daughter, Cindy Sdrales; her granddaughter, Heather Walker; her three brothers, William, George and James Frankos; and three sisters, Nancy Cartwright, Grace Surel and Rachel Nacario. She is survived by her daughter, Vicky (Angus) Walker; her son, Tim (Deborah) Sdrales; her grandchildren, Katherine (Katie) and Alex Walker, Athena Sdrales, and Scarlett Wallace and many nieces and nephews. Tena firmly believed that one’s whole life should be celebrated in retrospect, and wanted no sadness, no mourning and no ceremony when she passed to rejoin her husband, Tom.

There will therefore be no services, in keeping with her wishes. While she will be deeply missed by all who love her, we will focus on the love and happy times we shared together with her during her lifetime.
