Pam Mumm Okland was born on July 5, 1947, to Veronica Ann and Joseph Frederick Mumm, in Geddes, South Dakota. She was the youngest of five children. The family moved to Utah when Pam was in junior high school.
Pam was in one of the first classes to attend what was then the brand new Hillcrest High School, where she met and later married Philip Alden Terry. Into this union was born her first child, Alden. Pam later met and married Niels Allan Hedberg, with whom she adoped her beautiful daughter, Amy. Eventually, Pam met and married her eternal partner, Jack Okland, Jr.
Pam had a long, successful career in the workplace. She was a sales representative for many years in the foodservice industry, and eventually owned her own brokerage. She then became a highly successful administrative assistant, as well as an office manager. A measure of success during her career, she managed marketing incentives producing $70 million in annual sales, saved a company $75,000 in office lease negotiations, and created the first office procedures manual for a 40-year-old international corporation.
Pam was a dedicated member of the LDS church. After the death of her husband Jack in 2002, she served a mission to the Boston area from 2003-2004, where she worked with Institute students and positively influenced many young lives. She was an active participant when she attended services at her ward, and devoutly read her scriptures and studied church doctrine and history.
She is survived by her children, Frederick Alden Terry and Amy Hedberg Brown (Seth); four grandchildren, Bella, Claire, Breanna and Sydney; two sisters, Dorothy Atkinson and Judith Alley; numerous nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.
There will be a visitation with the family at Larkin Mortuary, 260 E. South Temple, at 11:00 AM on Thursday, December 5, which will be followed by a graveside service at the Salt Lake Cemetery (located at 200 N Street) at 12:30.
