Obituary

Audrey Diane Poll Wilkes passed away peacefully in her home in the early morning hours of June 7, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of stoicism, perseverance, and a tireless work ethic.

Diane was born in Helena, Montana, to Herman Otis Woods and Lucille Mary Brazier on December 6, 1934. She grew up during the lean years of The Great Depression, a time that did not allow for much softness, and she carried those lessons with her throughout her life. In time, she made her way to Salt Lake City, where she would remain.

She married Norman Wayne Poll on October 27, 1950, and together they raised five beautiful children. Their home was built by their own efforts, and it still stands as a reflection of their labor today. Diane kept a steady house. Meals were on time, clothes were mended, and expectations were clear. She was not given to indulgence, but her care was understood in the order she maintained and the work she finished.

Her beloved husband passed away on July 4, 1983, and Diane endured, later marrying Wesley Wilkes in Lake Tahoe, Nevada, on July 22, 1985. Companionship mattered, but life remained steady and practical, and generations of family created lasting memories in the home that she built.

She endured profound loss during her lifetime including the loss of her two eldest sons Norman Craig Poll and Michael Bruce Poll. She remained firm, and unyielding through her losses, a trait that has been handed down to her children and grandchildren. The generations of the Poll family have been permanently shaped by the life she lived.

Diane is preceded in death by both of her parents, Herman Otis Woods and Lucille Mary Brazier. She is also preceded in death by husband Norman Wayne Poll and husband Wesley Wilkes. Her two eldest sons, Norman Craig Poll and Michael Bruce Poll also preceded her in death.

She is survived by her remaining children: Charmaine Diane Tarman, Tommy Shane Poll and wife Rose of St. George, Utah, Adam Quinn Poll and wife Gloria of Nampa, Idaho.

Diane is also survived by her eight grandchildren: Melanie Martin, Kelly Martin, Ann Poll, Katie Enright, Tyler Poll, Saxton Poll, Leslie Stroud and husband Chris, and Nicole Emanzi and husband Jerome.

As well as twelve great-grandchildren: Casey Eric Martin and wife Shelbie, Xavier Chavez, Gavin Enright, Ryan Enright, Cole Vigil, Lucy Stroud, Grant Stroud, Harrison Stroud, Lincoln Stroud and Grace Stroud, Gia Martin, and Braiden Martin.

And let us not forget that she is also survived by nine great-great-grandchildren: Dominic Jimenez, Xander Chavez, Lillith Martin, Valkyrie Martin, Vandal Martin, Damian Emanzi, Katarina Emanzi, Raphael Emanzi, and Naomi Emanzi.

Services will be held on Friday, June 12, 2026, at Meadow Ward 1955 W 400 N Salt Lake City, UT 84116. Viewing begins at 11:00 AM followed by services at noon.
