Leone Clyde

1925 ~ 2015

Leone "Nonie" Clyde, our beautiful, generous, loving mother passed away September 18, 2015. She was born November 25, 1925 in Logan, Utah to George and Leone Reynolds. She spent her childhood in Salt Lake City and Marion, Iowa. She married Grant Clyde November 24, 1948. They lived and raised their children in Springville, Utah until they moved to Salt Lake City in 1963. She worked tirelessly at being a good mother, caring for her parents, making chocolates every year, and taking on extra jobs so she could give her children the best of everything.

She took great pride in being involved with the community and was a member of the Springville Art Tea, Director of the Sugarhouse Chamber of Commerce, President of the Salt Lake Chapter of the American Business Women's Association, and was ABWA Woman of the Year in 1977. She held several jobs including selling tickets for Holiday on Ice, Vanda Beauty Counselor cosmetics, and was a secretary for LandS Theater Supply, National General Theaters, and Mann Theaters. Her favorite job started in 1972 when she was the first woman in the western United States to become a theater manager for a large theater chain (NGC Theaters). That was at the Southeast Theater in Sugarhouse. She worked very hard to prove that she could do the job as well as any of the men she worked with. She was always professional, hard working, and well respected. When they tore that theater down in 1976, she became manager of the Villa Theater on Highland Drive, a job that she loved and worked long hours at.

After her husband passed away in 1981, she retired from the theaters and went to work in the credit department of Granite Furniture in Sugarhouse, until she retired in 1989. She met Tony Rudman, and for 20 years they enjoyed spending time together.
