Ronal was born in South Jordan, UT on January 12, 1921 to James B and Millie Hardcastle Shields. He passed away on November 1, 2016 in Draper, UT. He married Majorie Nelson on April 10, 1941 in West Jordan, UT. Together they had 3 beautiful daughters.
Dad was a hard worker and had several jobs. He loved farming and enjoyed his work as a Nurse Technician at the VA Hospital and retired from there after 28 years. He was a great storyteller. We all loved to gather around to hear his stories. The grandkids thought he could fix anything and taught them to fish. He was loving, kind and compassionate. Dad was a good neighbor and would always help anyone in need. He was a good cook, organizer, kept his shoes polished and his cars immaculate. He was a great dad and a marvelous grandpa. We will miss him dearly!
He is survived by his children Janice (Dick) Michaelsen, Linda Tanner and Denise (Mont) Christofferson, 13 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandsons, sisters Wanda Naylor, Donna (Guy) Burgon and Maxine Clark. Preceded in death by his wife Marjorie, parents, brother James and sister Wilda.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 5, 2016 at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East Dimple Dell Road (10600 South) in Sandy. A visitation will be held Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. and on Saturday morning from 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to the services. Online condolences welcomed at www.larkincares.com.
