Billie Joyce Bunnell Allington

1930 ~ 2017

Billie Joyce Bunnell Allington passed away sweetly, holding her husband's hand surrounded by family and friends on both sides of the veil on Thursday, November 2, 2017.

Billie was born in Provo, Utah, November 17, 1930 to Clyde and Inez Bunnell. She grew up in Billings, Montana. In 1947 at the age of 16, her family moved her senior year to Salt Lake City, Utah, where she attended East High. She attended the University of Utah, where she participated in Lambda Delta Sigma, where she met her future husband, Darrel Allington. They dated some, and when Darrel was serving an LDS mission in the Great Lakes Mission, Billie worked as a legal secretary and completed her degree at the University, graduating majoring in Spanish and minoring in French and German in 1952. On March 20, 1953, Billie married Ervin Darrel Allington in the Salt Lake Temple. They welcomed a son, Daniel Ervin, and a daughter, Linda Marie, into their home. Billie and Darrel diligently taught their children the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and a love of diverse people, languages and cultures. They also inspired a love of learning.

Billie served and taught in Sunday School, Primary, and Relief Society. She enjoyed many crafts, and decorated her home differently each month. She created traditions around all the holidays. Many of these traditions persist with her posterity, who love her so much for all she did for them.

Billie is survived by her husband Darrel; son Daniel (Cynthia) Allington; daughter Linda Allington; son Luis (Jacquie) Aveytya; grandchildren Elizabeth, Tzeitel, Kiara and Djosen; and 5 and Ω great-grandchildren.

Special thanks go to Dr. John Dietlein, Cornerstone Hospice, and Wentworth Assisted Living and all their caregivers for their loving and professional care.

Funeral services will be held at Larkin Sunset Lawn Mortuary, 2350 East 1300 South, on Saturday, November 11, at 2 pm. Well-wishers are warmly invited to greet the family 2 hours before the funeral. In lieu of flowers, Billie requested donations be made in her name to Primary Children's Hospital or Best Friends Animal Society. Thank you.
