Riley M. Beckstead

1928 ~ 2018

Riley, 90, passed away May 12, 2018 to begin a new chapter of life reuniting with his beloved June, his granddaughter Celeste, and several family and friends.

He was born February 17, 1928 in Salt Lake City to Harold M. Beckstead and Pearl P. Lloyd. He had six brothers and two sisters who proceeded him in death.

He had a strong work ethic. He supported his family by working several jobs to meet his families wants and needs. Throughout his career, Riley worked at the Deseret News Press as a type setter, a meat cutter at several grocery stores, and a custodian at the Post office. He was loved and respected by his co-workers.

Riley attended West High School and served in the military. He was an active member of the LDS church and served in many callings. He loved people and instantly became friends with everyone he met... they weren't strangers for long. Dad always said he was here to make everyone smile. Riley left this earth a better place than he found it.

Dad enjoyed spending time with his children, going on long rides in the canyons, eating out at his favorite restaurants, going to Wendover, watching western movies and especially the Jazz!

Riley is survived by his children Gail (Brad) Ottley, Neal (Melanie), Diane (Carl) Parrish, Jennette (Rick) Gibson, Dick (Jamie), Lydia (Don) Heslop, Laura (Nathan) Kunz; 23 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

We would like to thank the VA Hospital, the Caregivers support team, the Sandy Rehab and the West Jordan Beehive House for the many hours of love and service they provided for him.
