Florence Alcea Deming Magleby

1912 ~ 2014

Florence Alcea Deming Magleby died in Bountiful, Utah on October 4, 2014. She was born in Porterville, Utah on April 15, 1912. She married McRay Magleby, Sr. in 1938 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She attended Utah State University and earned a B.S. in Education and M.S. in Educational Psychology from the University of Utah. She later received her doctorate in Education al Psychology with emphasis on learning disabilities. She was a dedicated teacher for many years and a specialist on the staff of the Utah State Office of Education. She served on the Advisory Board of the Learning Disabilities Association of Utah. Dr. Magleby received numerous commendations for her work with exceptional populations.

She was an active member of the LDS Church and served in many capacities, but the role that she enjoyed most was that of serving her family.

She is survived by her daughter, Susan Auer; sons, McRay Magleby Jr.,Tom D. Magleby (Elaine); six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Preceded in death by her husband, McRay Magleby, Sr.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at 11:30 at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, 3401 South Highland Drive.
