Harry Louis Bonnell Jr.

1950 ~ 2019

Born June 22, 1950 to Harry Louis (Gubler) Bonnell and Audrey Frischknecht at the Logan hospital in Cache County, Utah. Harry was the eldest of 5 children. He grew up in the foothills of Ogden, Utah, and graduated from Ogden High and Weber State. He spent much of his later life in Eagle Mountain, Utah, where he passed away peacefully on December 17, 2019.

When Harry was 15, his dad died unexpectedly, leaving him responsible in many ways to care for his mother and four younger sisters. He was hardworking, honest, and dedicated -- never failing to do his best. He began working at age 12 mowing lawns. At age 16 he was working at Safeway, he went on to employment as a furniture deliverer (during which years he also earned his Eagle Scout Award). Other employment: US Postal worker, career computer programmer, and, up until just months before his passing, a school administrator. He was also a Scout Master, and loved nature, hiking, fishing, football, and volleyball.

A lifetime scholar: Harry was brilliant and well read, with an outstanding memory. He was the top male student in the school of business, was a member of Phi Kappa Phi, and graduated Magna Cum Laude. He was gifted not only in intellect and understanding, but in ability to convey that knowledge to others and taught extensively in his religious and community vocations.

He was deeply spiritual -- a man of faith, with a servant's heart. His callings included: first counselor in the Elder's Quorum. Sunday School teacher, Seventy, one of the seven presidents of the Seventies in his stake, Bishop, Priesthood meeting recorder and teacher, and headed a hymn book committee. Harry was looked to as a spiritual leader, patriarch, counselor, and instructor. Of his countless accomplishments, his greatest were those as husband, father, grandfather, friend, believer, blessing giver, peace-maker, spiritual guide and a seeker of Zion. He is loved by thousands.

Among those saying goodbye, with longing to see him again soon, are: Rachel, Rose, Mary Dawn, Randy, Lisa, Jeremy, Mary, Josiah, Asenath, Joellah, Micah, Jordan, Sterling, Criscelle, David, Jason, Levi, Melissa, Ammon, Anna, Arielle, Salem, Joseph, Andrew, Aubrah, Bethany, Kaylah, Nathan, Mariah, Daniel, Alonnah -- and an ever-widening circle of posterity and friends.
