Becky Lynn Carter

1959 ~ 2023

Becky Lynn (Brett) Carter, 63, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend, passed away from heart failure Saturday, April 8, 2023, at 5:30 pm at the Riverway Center in South Jordan, Utah.
Becky passed peacefully after being cared for all day by her mother, Karlyn, and enjoying conversation and expressions of love from her family. She developed heart failure and kidney disease several years ago and managed her condition as it worsened through very difficult times supported continuously by her family and many caregivers, angels, and a loving God whose timing of every moment gave evidence as to her relationship with Him.
Becky was born August 10, 1959, in Modesto, California then as a child moved to Bellevue, Washington, then Beaverton, Oregon, and then at age 8 to Spokane, Washington with her family where she lived until marrying Richard Everett Carter in the LDS Ogden Temple October 5, 1978. Becky and Rick raised their family starting in Spokane, then in Hayden Lake and Boise, Idaho, and finally in Sandy, Utah where Becky formed many close friendships in the Heytesbury and Willow Creek neighborhoods.
Becky is known by anyone who has met her as a kind, sweet, gentle, and giving person, always willing to serve and be the perfect host for any gathering. She is also known as a gifted pianist and accompanist, crafter, cook, and the decorator of her most beautiful homes visited and admired by many. Becky’s greatest accomplishment and expression of her gifts is the raising and forming of her family. Becky and Rick spent their time together nurturing their family, caring for their home, traveling the world, visiting relatives, attending 43 years of family reunions, building businesses, and seeing every chick flick.
Becky’s passing follows the passing of her father, Jerry Brett, her grandparents, and her aunt Luann Campbell. Becky is survived by her husband Richard Everett Carter, their 5 daughters Christina Leigh Roberts (Jameson), Cara Nichole Sessions (Tommy), Cayla Cherice Carroll (Jerry), Cachae Corein Moncur (Nicholas), Cassidi Amber Carter, her 18 grandchildren (Jaycee, Kylee, Carter, Jaxon, Taylor, Chase, Tommy, Sammy, Gracie, Maggie, Bella, Hartley, Hayden, Everett, Nyxon, Harrison, Cecelia, Garrett, and great-grandson Julian), her mother, Karlyn Summerill Frost Brett, and siblings Marci Ann Romney (Rick), Thomas George Brett (Andrea), Scott Kennedy Brett (Jennifer), Kelly Leigh Armstrong, and their children.
The funeral is managed by Larkin. There is no viewing. The funeral service is being held at 11 am, Monday, April 17, 2023, at the Buttercup Chapel of the Heystesbury Ward 1600 E. Buttercup Drive, Sandy, Utah. The interment will be at Larkin Cemetery, 10600 S. 1950 E. Sandy, Utah. And a luncheon will follow the interment back at the Buttercup chapel. Flowers and cards can be sent to Larkin Mortuaries 10600 S. 1950 E. Sandy, Utah. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Rescue Mission Women’s Center. Becky requested that those attending the funeral wear spring colors.

Guestbook/Condolences

My love, admiration, and prayers go out to the Carters and Bretts and all loving family & friends of Becky. Life being cut short causes grief, tears, and anguish for a brief time. But when we allow that grief to be swallowed up in our Lord & Savior, those tears become tears of gratitude, appreciation, and peace. I love all of you, we will ALL be together again because of HIM...I know this.

So very sorry to hear this sad news. Although we never had the pleasure of meeting Becky, we were acquainted with this loving and talented materfamilias through Rick's lively social media posts.
We will light a candle in London in her memory.

Rick and girls... I am so sorry for your loss. Your wife and mother was a vessel from God for you. It was an absolute pleasure to have met her, the rock of your family. She showed me such wonderful hospitality when I came to Utah; I will never forget her. I pray that you have peace like a river that surpasses all understanding. Remember, she is within you, and now she is with her Lord. To be absent from the body is to be present with God! Trust that she is now at peace without pain or suffering, and you shall see her again when the Trumpet sounds! Her legacy is alive, and everyone can witness it within you.
God bless you all forever...amen!😇🙏🏽👑
