Benjamin Mayers Brown, loving husband, devoted father, accomplished businessman, and beloved member of the community, passed away unexpectedly due to a heart condition on April 4, 2024, at the age of 41. Known for his larger-than-life personality and generous spirit, Ben's passing leaves a void that will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Ben graduated from East High School in 2000, and went on to pursue his passion for Middle Eastern Studies at The University of Utah, where he became a member of the Beta Theta Phi Fraternity. It was during this time that Ben's intellectual curiosity and drive for success became apparent to all who crossed his path.
Following his time at the University of Utah, Ben embarked on a successful career, co-founding Mountain West Commercial Real Estate with his lifelong friend and business partner, Chad Moore. With so many friends and coworkers he loved, Mountain West became his second family. Ben’s dedication, passion, and genuine care for his clients and colleagues earned him widespread respect and admiration within the industry. Despite his numerous achievements, he was the last person to care about awards or recognition, often not even showing up to ceremonies to receive them. Instead, he was more concerned with the meaningful connections he made along the way.
In 2008, Ben married the love of his life, Taylor Nicolaides Brown, in Salt Lake City, Utah. Together, they were blessed with four wonderful children: Lila Elise (11), Eloise Grace (11), Leo Benjamin (7), and Etta Elizabeth (5). Ben adored his children and took immense pride in watching them grow and thrive. He was a devoted father who cherished every moment spent with his family, showering them with love, support, unwavering encouragement, and anything he could buy on Amazon. Ben’s passion for collecting coins and Pokemon cards with his children brought them even closer together, creating memories that will be treasured forever.
Throughout his life, Ben was known for his generosity, compassion, and ability to connect with people from all walks of life. Ben had unmatched creativity and always would think outside the box. Authentic to the core, and quick to forgive, with the help of his witty humor, booming laugh, bear hugs, and light-hearted personality, Ben could brighten up any situation.
Ben is preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Steven Evans. He is survived by his wife, Taylor Nicolaides Brown, his beloved children Lila, Eloise, Leo, and Etta, his parents, Robert and Lilian Brown, his sister, Emily Brown, his parents-in-law, Tommy and Vicky Nicolaides, his siblings-in-law, TJ Nicolaides (Melissa), Travis Nicolaides (Carrie), Tory Reeder (Maurice), Taryn Evans (Scott), Tessa Nicolaides, and his twelve cherished nieces and nephews.

You are going home to be with our HEAVENLY FATHER . He will say: a job well done my faithful servant.
This is heartbreaking. Ben was such a vibrant and intelligent young man. My deepest sympathies to his family and all those who loved him. He is in my prayers.
We are sorry for your loss. We did not know him personally but Beverly Brown of AZ sent me this, not sure of their relationship with Bev or her deceased husband Douglas Brown., But, when anyone loses their life at such a young age, is harder to understand. but, it's God's plan and he will and can call us home to his pleasing. Again, please accept our condolences to you and your family. The Gibsons Lander Wy

I heard somewhere a quote. "Life is but a series of tragedies interrupted by brief moments of joy". I don't know who said it, but it seems so true. Ben, to your family and friends, you were a joy. I'm sorry your moments here now seem so brief. Bob, Lilian, Emily, Taylor, and all of us in Ben's family, I'm so sorry, Let's try to focus on the moments of joy.
Ben was a friend of this family and we will always appreciated his respect for our daughter who allowed her friendship and support for him, for a time. He was way ahead of his age on this earth, and that is what brought some of his successes. God bless his family and his work family. We that knew him, knew that both were important to him. An self made entrepreneur.
Ben was a man of MANY words. His humor, sarcasm and smile could light up the darkest of rooms. One of the best negotiaors in the business, I never wanted to sit across the table from Ben. A bear in business a teddy bear in friendship. His presence will be missed.
My condolences to Ben's family and friends. No words can express my sorrow for this loss. My thoughts are with all of you. May yours be full of joyous memories, hope and healing.
We are so sorry for your loss. RIP Ben. Love from us to you all xx
Ben was so energetic and to pass on at such a young age with the wife and four children saddens all of us. Our hearts and prayers and with you all.
When Ben lived in our ward he spent time advising our oldest son about life. Also, he was always very engaging and interested in people. He will be missed.
Ben was such a lively and rowdy spirit and always had the quickest wit and contagious laughter. On the serious side, I recall multiple times seeing him diligently researching on behalf of his client, often well after the majority of the office had cleared out. He truly inspired excellence and hard work, and demonstrated often how to play hard when the work was done. I am so sorry for his family's loss. I hope your healing process is filled with loving memories.
I was so shocked to learn of Ben’s passing. That’s just not supposed to happen to young men Ben’s age with 4 small children! Ben was an enthusiastic colleague and it was always nice to run into him at ICSC Las Vegas. I know Chad and all of you followed Ben and Chad as they built a great multi-state commercial brokerage. He will be sorely missed by those of us who knew him only professionally, not to mention those who flew in his immediate orbit. My deepest sympathies to Chad and the brokers and employees of Mountain West, and most importantly to his wife and family.
I did not know Ben. His obituary randomly came on my phone. Prayers to the family. God be with you in this difficult time.
Praying for you all. God bless you 🙏
Dear Brown family. I was deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Ben. He was not just a friend but also a mentor and source of unwavering support to me during our time at Beta Theta Pi. I will always cherish the countless memories we shared, from the laughter to the tears, and the uplifting words of encouragement he never failed to provide. Ben's positivity and kindness touched the lives of everyone around him, and his presence will be deeply missed. Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. May you find comfort in the love and cherished memories you shared with Ben. If there's anything I can do to support you, please don't hesitate to reach out.

I was heart broken to see this news. Ben was one of my favorite people in high school. He made long shifts at Zuka Juice much more fun. He was one of the most kind and genuine people I knew. I appreciated his friendship so much. Love and prayers to your family. May you find peace and always feel Ben’s love and support with you.
