Betsy Lee Combs Maynes

1968 ~ 2023

Betsy Combs Maynes, age 54, passed away July 31, 2023 at her home in Draper, Utah.

Betsy was born in Richmond, Virginia on October 20th, 1968 to James Alton Combs and Nancy Kanode Combs. Her brother James and her had a travel some upbringing, living in many states including Virginia, North Carolina, Arizona, Colorado, and finally moved to Utah. She attended Alta High School and met many lifelong friends, including her husband Brent John Maynes. They were married January 29th 1987 and lived and lovingly raised a family with their two sons for the rest of her life.

She worked many jobs over the years in addition to raising a family, in banking, transportation services, retail and food. She had a great passion for fun, adventure and travel, and helped organize many great times for family and friends. Camping trips and exploring were always on the top of her list and made for unforgettable memories for so many people in her life.

Betsy had a deeply loving and caring nature, and tried her best to help others. Her parents had various health issues and she worked hard with our family for almost a decade to help out her parents, especially her mom Nancy towards the end. She contended with the passing of her parents with great courage but it impacted her deeply.

She was a great gardener, cook and homemaker, always enthusiastically adorning the house with seasonal decorations. She always had her arms open for her friends and family, and tried offering a helping hand when she could if someone was in need. The house was always a place people could come by and visit, and you’d likely end up having dinner or spend several hours having great conversation. She made sure the BBQ’s, family gatherings and get together’s were a wonderful time and everyone was invited.

Betsy is survived by her husband Brent, her sons John and Troy, her brother James, Brent’s father Fred, as well as numerous loving family members and friends. She is preceded in passing by her parents, James and Nancy Combs. Although her passing has left our hearts broken, we are comforted by her loving nature and the impact her life has had on all those who knew her.

Graveside service for Betsy will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, August 9, 2023 at Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary, 1950 East Dimple Dell Road in Sandy, Utah. A closed casket viewing will take place at the same location at 12:00pm on the same day. The reception will follow the graveside service at the Eastridge First Ward Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, at 552 E 11400 South in Draper, Utah
