Bing Zhang

1928 ~ 2024

It is with profound sadness, but with hope in Christ, that I share the passing of my beloved father, Bing Zhang, who returned home to Heavenly Father on June 14, 2024, at the age of 96.

Born on December 29, 1928, in Guangzhou, China, my father found salvation and became a child of God in 1999. He pursued his education in Hong Kong and Shanghai, ultimately graduating from Zhongshan Medical School in Guangzhou in 1955. He dedicated his career to practicing as a cardio-pulmonary surgeon until his retirement at the age of 70.

In 1953, he married my mother, Kitty. Together, they raised two children: my brother, Siu Lok, and me. In 1999, they immigrated to New York and later moved to Utah with me in 2005. My father had a deep appreciation for collecting art and stones, listening to Chinese operas, and reading and composing Chinese poems.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Kitty; his son, Siu Lok, and daughter-in-law Yan Fen; his daughter, Faye, and son-in-law Tony; his grandchildren, Christine, and her husband Simon, and Derrick; and his great-grandchild, Brooklyn.

A memorial service will be held on June 22, 2024, at Larkin Mortuary, 260 E South Temple St, Salt Lake City, 84111. The viewing will begin at 10 am, followed by the service at 11 am. A comforting lunch will be provided by our family after the service at Red Maple Chinese Restaurant, 2882 W 4700 S, Taylorsville. You are cordially invited to join us in remembering and honoring his life. For those unable to attend, services will be streamed via Zoom. Please click on the "Watch Services" link above.

My father spent his final moments surrounded by his loving family, cherishing every moment with those he held dear. He will be remembered for his immense humor, wisdom, compassionate nature, and his unwavering love for family, friends, and patients. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. I love you, Dad!
