Blanche Lloyd Perry peacefully passed away on October 9, 2023, surrounded by her family. She was born in Delta, Utah on May 13, 1925, to Allen Woodruff and Myrtle Carter Lloyd. She was the fourth of eleven children. Her oldest brother Clark died when he was six months old.

Her family remained in Delta until they moved into her mother’s childhood home in Orem, Utah when she was five years old. Here they learned hard work and cooperation and friends were often found at their home, as all were welcome. Blanche learned from an early age to help provide for her family as they did not have many material possessions. She worked in the orchards and farms in the area and learned to bottle fruits and vegetables from their yard. She learned how to feed a family by using what the Lord provided, a skill she would possess and use frequently throughout her life.

Blanche attended schools in the area and graduated from Lincoln High School where she ran hurdles on the track and field team; she won many races and received numerous awards. She attended Seminary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints even though she wasn’t a member, and she played the piano while the hymns were sung.

After high school Blanche moved to Provo to live with her aunt. While there, she worked at Don’s Café for many years. She was well known for being able to take orders from large parties and make sure they were made correctly. She would bring large orders to the patrons with plates lining her arms to be efficient. During her time in Provo the missionaries for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints taught her the gospel and she was baptized at the age of 21.

Blanche’s brother Delbert served in the army during WWII where he met Keith Perry. As they got acquainted, Delbert showed Keith a picture of his beautiful sister that he kept in his wallet. Keith and Blanche corresponded the rest of his time in the service and, after being discharged, Keith would hitchhike from Bountiful to Provo to visit her every weekend. They were married on August 2, 1946, in Billings, Montana. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple.

They lived in numerous places in the Mountain West until settling in Cottonwood Heights where they raised their family. Here they created a home of beauty inside and out. Her yard was always groomed to perfection, without a leaf or a weed in sight. Her social media at that time was visiting with the neighbors over the backyard fence as she hung clothes out to dry or worked in the yard.

Throughout her life she was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she had many callings and responsibilities. Some of her favorites include primary teacher, Relief Society President, compassionate service leader, and visiting teacher. Blanche loved to serve others and was often seen working in neighbor’s yards or homes when they needed help. She was known for baking cakes, brownies, and zucchini bread that she loved to give away on special days or during the holidays.

Blanche and Keith had a special relationship and supported each other in everything they did. They loved being together in all their daily activities and traveling around the western United States. Some of their favorite destinations were Yellowstone National Park and Jackson Hole, northern California, and all the national parks in Utah. In her later years, she became an avid reader and loved watching movies with her family, especially Hallmark movies.

She was preceded in death by her husband Keith Perry; her parents; seven brothers and six spouses; three sisters and their spouses; Keith’s parents, his two brothers, one sister, and two of their spouses; daughter-in-law Laurie Anderson Perry; and grandson James Allen Perry.

She is survived by her children Keith Lloyd Perry; David (Tauna) Perry; Steven (Beverly) Perry; Jeannette (Rick) Jeppson; Janice (Victor) Anderson; John (Spring) Perry; two sisters-in-law Joy Lloyd and Rhea Perry; 27 grandchildren; 79 great grandchildren; 25 great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

The family is grateful for the loving care of Inspiration Hospice, Nurse Regan, and CNA Lexi. A thanks goes to The Quality of Life Home Health Care and their CNAs and nurses. We acknowledge and are grateful for the loving care family members have given as she lived in their homes, in particular Jeannette and Rick Jeppson for their sacrifice and work.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 21st at 11:00 AM with a viewing from 9:30 to 10:45 AM at the Oakridge Ward, 980 North Shepard Church Drive, Farmington, UT. She will be laid to rest at Larkin Sunset Gardens Cemetery, 1950 E. Dimple Dell Rd. (10600 S.), Sandy. She was a very special lady, and a wonderful aunt. I would remember when we would come over to her house, and she was always willing to cook something for us. She would offer us some zucchini bread either a slice or a whole loaf. She always cooked really yummy food. She will be missed very much. I loved her tons.
