Belva Virginia Hillier

1927 ~ 2015

Virginia was born January 5, 1927 in Salt Lake City, Utah, the sixth child of Gertrude McCormick Hobson and George Leonard Hobson. She passed away peacefully on July 25, 2015.

Virginia lived most of her life in Salt Lake City, graduating from East High School and attending the University of Utah. She married her eternal companion, Robert Brown Hillier in the Salt Lake Temple on October 21, 1949. Virginia and Robert had four children; Sherry Lynn (Scott Longson), Gordon Stephen (Christy), Connie Kae, and Brent Jason (Klaudette).

She found joy in her lifelong activity in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. A few of her favorite callings included serving in Junior Sunday School, the Stake Young Women's Presidency, and as a ward Relief Society President. She was blessed to serve two full time missions with her husband. The first mission proselyting in the Colorado Denver Mission assigned in both Brush and Fort Morgan, Colorado and the second mission as secretary to the President of the Michigan Detroit Mission. In recent years, Virginia volunteered at the Lakeview Hospital and loved those that became wonderful new friends.

Virginia lived her life following the example of her Savior, Jesus Christ and blessed everyone around her with Christ-like love. She was devoted to the gospel, cherished her family, and was pure, kind, and loving. She leaves this life as quietly and unassuming as she lived her own, never focusing any attention on herself, but always turning the spotlight on others. Her quiet dignity and unconditional love leaves a lasting impact on all those who knew her. She will certainly be received in Heaven and have the joy of everlasting salvation, living in the presence of our loving and kind Heavenly Father.

Preceded in death by her parents, siblings; Max, Glen, Dale, Richard, Madelyn Bodell and Helen Dabling, son Gordon, husband Robert, son in law Scott, and grandson in law Ryan. She is survived by her daughters Sherry and Connie, daughter in law Christy, son Brent and daughter in law Klaudette, 15 grandchildren, and 26 great grandchildren.
