Dorothy Smith, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and a special friend of many, passed away peacefully on July 21, at the age of 88 surrounded by her family. Dorothy was born April 17, 1927 to David and Eva Elvin Borg in Sandy, Utah. She married her sweetheart Harold G. Smith on November 21, 1946 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
Dorothy's greatest joy in life was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. They have many fond memories of playing games and spending time with her. She always had large family gatherings for every holiday. She had a passion for gardening and her green thumb produced beautiful gardens. She loved traveling the world with her husband. She held many church callings and loved working with the youth. Dorothy left this life a more beautiful and loving place having shared her kind and gracious spirit. She always made time for everyone.
Survived by her husband Harold, daughters Dianne (Dave) Porter, Marsha (John) Olsen, Jann (Dale) Cox, and Kelley (Corey) Mitchell, 11 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, 1 brother Jack Borg, 3 sisters Mary Larsen, LaNae Johnson, and Claudine (Glen) Granthem. Preceded in death by parents, 1 brother and 3 sisters.
Funeral services will be held Monday, July 27 at 11:00 AM at the Olympus 8th Ward, 2675 E. 4430 S. Viewings will be held Sunday from 6-8 PM and Monday from 9:45-10:45 prior to the services at the same location. Interment at the Larkin Sunset Gardens Cemetery.
