Braden James Severnak

1998 ~ 2023

Braden James Severnak was born to Quintin Severnak, and Jennifer Sugden Payne on Monday, August 24, 1998 in West Jordan, Utah. As a baby, he was affectionally known as Pooh Bear as mom and dad provided him with blankets, stuffed animals, and Halloween costumes from all the characters in Winnie the Pooh. His mother also ensured Braden was always stylishly dressed in Gap, Nike, Lucky and anything else his mom wanted him photographed in.

When Braden was four years old, he became a big brother to his sister Jaden, and again at twelve years old to his brother Carsen. He enjoyed many great times with his siblings including vacations, camping trips, and sporting events.

Sports were an important part of his life both playing and watching. He played football and basketball as a child, and appreciated being coach by his stepfather, Douglas Payne. He also loved to watch football, basketball, boxing, and many other sporting events with some of his favorites being the San Francisco 49ers, University of Utah football and the Utah Jazz.

Another passion of Braden’s was anything outdoors including camping, fishing, four wheeling, all things water and boating. He loved hunting with his dad and grandpa and shot his first Elk at 15.

Braden graduated from Horizonte High School in Salt Lake City, May 2017. As he got older, he also enjoyed gaming, hanging out with friends, attending concerts, and going on vacations including amusement parks, Disneyland, Disneyworld, California, and Hawaii.
Braden was known for being kind, confident, smart, witty and a constant prankster. He loved telling jokes and could make anyone and everyone laugh. He also was an avid reader including chapter books and fantasy novels. He loved shopping and dressing stylish including owning several designer shoes and hats along with having an expertise in pants placement. He was certainly known for looking in the mirror and saying how sexy he was.

Braden is survived by his loving parents, Jennifer (fiancé Tony Sansone) Sugden Payne and Quintin (wife Kalee) Severnak, and his stepfather, Douglas (fiancé Angela Peleschka) Payne. Alongside his parents are his sister, Jaden Severnak (fiancé Isaiah Ruiz), and his brother, Carsen Payne. Braden also leaves behind adoring grandparents, Milan Severnak, Kevin and Karen Sugden and Robert Payne. He also is survived by his longtime girlfriend Gloria Miller, and her adopted son Donovan Deshazo who he absolutely loved like his own son. Braden also has many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who he considered family. He was preceded in death by his grandmothers, Teri Severnak and Charlene Payne.
In memory of Braden, the family asked that you hug your loved ones close. Braden’s smile and contagious laugh will be sorely missed.

A viewing for Braden will be held Thursday, July 13, 2023, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 E. Dimple Dell Road (10600 S.), Sandy, UT. The funeral service will be held Friday, July 14, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. also at Larkin Sunset Gardens with a visitation from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. prior to the services. A luncheon will be held from 1:30 – 3:00 p.m. at Riverton City Park, 1452 West 12600 South.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Braden’s honor to the Odyssey House. Contributions can be made online at the following website: https://www.mightycause.com/organization/Odyssey-HouseUtah

I haven’t slept all night since I found out. Me and him use to do a lot of shit together. We both lived together for a long time. Knew him for almost 10 years. He was a good guy and a better friend. I don’t know what happened and I shouldn’t ask but it’s been on my mind. He was doing so much better for a long time and I’m super proud of him how he turned his life around. Ever since I started battling my cancer we kind grew apart. It’s been 2 years since I’ve seen or talked to him. I’m so proud of how far he has made it and I’m so glad that he did make it this far. I remember everything we did, we bought bikes together and rode everywhere together. He was the one to get me back on a motorcycle after my accident. My love and support goes out to all of his family and girlfriend. I’m so sorry for our loss and if anyone needs anything or wants pictures or stories I have them all..
love you buddy, rest in peace and I will see you again soon!
