Obituary

Bradley Duane Pemberton was born in Murray, Utah on June 17th, 1970 to Jackson Duane Pemberton and Charlet Eupha Cook. Brad grew up in many places across the country, including Provo, Utah, Southern California, New Jersey, and Tucson, Arizona.

Brad graduated high school from Canyon del Oro in Tucson, Arizona in 1988. He earned an Eagle Scout award and served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Honolulu, Hawaii from 1989-1991. He married Krysta Diane Dickey on September 26th, 1991. While attending the University of Arizona, they started their family. He received a bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems in 1996.

After the first stages of his career working as an entrepreneur in the field of Information Technology, Brad made the best of a downturn in the economy by seeking a career with the United States Army. Loyalty and duty were perpetual dedications in Brad’s life, and this was true both in regard to his family (and especially his children) and his service to his country via his military career. Later in life, he lived in Hawaii, obtained the rank of major, and married his now ex-partner Mindi Wade.

Brad was a creative soul who often sought to impart whimsy and artistic value even where it might have been hard to find. He fostered a life-long love of swordplay, fantasy fiction, alternative music, surfboarding, dancing, and many creative endeavors in his children and grandchildren.

His children fondly recall long evenings fencing with the Historical European Martial Arts crowd, or playing video games into the night, such as Diablo 2 or World of Warcraft. No matter what he may have been dealing with, he always had time for a heartfelt talk and a warm hug. As part of his military career, Brad had the opportunity to travel Europe with his family, allowing them to experience places such as Paris, London, Prague, Berlin, Venice, and others together. His children recall the memories of these travels fondly.

Brad is survived by his parents, nine siblings, and children: Nyphile Rhiannon Silvermoon, Aaron and Sianya Pemberton, Kate and Jay Ellis, and Sam Pemberton, and his grandchildren: Gianna Sofia Pemberton Esponda and William Golden Ellis.

Tributes

I'm so extremely sorry for your loss. May good memories keep you and the Lord bless you on heavy days. Much love and condolences.

Cheryl Shortt

I will forever be in your debt for teaching me patience and tolerance. I vividly remember the painful lessons of you teaching me how to sword fight. Until we meet again my friend.

We hiked hundreds of miles together as a family and with the Boy Scouts. Brad always demonstrated thoughtful skills as he learned them. He could assimilate the skill and its appropriate use while sensing its human implications. He knew how to make a backpack feel lighter, when to assist another to do that, and when to just carry it for them - and he did all those and always with a ready smile. The breadth of his understanding was impressive and his closest associates confirmed that a few days ago in Hawaii. That’s just one small evidence of this man’s character and love. He is sorely missed!
