With heavy hearts, we are sad to announce the passing of our sweet, beloved son, “our boy”, Brandon Liljenquist, on Tuesday September 3, 2024, following an unexpected medical event that occurred two days prior.

The youngest of 3 children, Brandon was born on April 18, 1990. Throughout his 34 years on this earth, Brandon valiantly fought a life-long battle with autism. He is our hero. Although words cannot express the depth of our sorrow, we are so proud of him for courageously enduring the extreme difficulties and hardships he faced every day because of his condition. He is now whole, free from mortal affliction, and at peace, which in turn gives us comfort and peace.

Brandon’s infectious smile, sweet personality, and angelic countenance captured many hearts and changed the lives of everyone who had the good fortune of knowing him.

Being a part of “the world according to Brandon” was always an adventure. He made many strong and lasting impressions on those he encountered throughout our local communities. Whether on a long car ride with the music blasting at full volume, taking a walk through the local neighborhood, jumping up and down at a water park, running on a playground, or frequenting every fast-food restaurant in the valley, Brandon made his presence known. We are heartbroken and will forever miss him dearly. At the same time, we are comforted knowing that we all have been blessed beyond measure because he played a special role in our lives.

Brandon is survived by his parents, Ron and Jackie Liljenquist of Draper, UT, his sister Emily Ervin (Tristen) of Sandy, UT, his brother Michael Liljenquist (Mandy) of Cottonwood Heights, UT, 2 beautiful nieces, and one amazing nephew. He is preceded in death by his grandparents.
Our family would like to pay special tribute to the entire organization at CTA, his “second family”, that supported and cared for him in his group home setting for the past 20 years. They are angels that worked tirelessly day and night to help Brandon live his best life.

Services will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at Larkin Sunset Gardens at 1950 E. 10600 S. (Dimple Dell Road) in Sandy, Utah. A one-hour visitation for friends and family will take place at 10:00 AM, followed by funeral services at 11:00 AM. Interment will take place at Larkin Sunset Gardens immediately following the service. Services will be livestreamed via Zoom and can be accessed by clicking the “Watch Services” button above.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Autism Council of Utah at www.autismcouncilofutah.org.

Brandon was such a great impact in my life. Working with him taught me so much patience and understanding. I am beyond blessed to have shared moments with my favorite buddy. I will never forget our summer Saturdays. Van rides in the beautiful Utah canyons and picnics. My heart is heavy with grief. Our condolences to the Liljenquist family.

I'm so sorry to hear of the loss of your beautiful son Brandon. I had the privilege of taking care of him at Jordan Valley!! He was quite the character, who loved food! I still think of him often. There are still some tell tale signs that Brandon was at that school. He was so talk he would jump and hit the exit sign at the south end, well its still crooked to this day. I look at that sign and have to laugh. He will be missed. I loved your son!!! With heartfelt sadness I send my sincere condolances!! Thank you for sharing the life of your son!! Gloria veenendaal
