Brandon Scott Richards, age 47, passed away July 29, 2023 unexpectedly of natural causes at his family cabin in Manila, Utah.

Brandon was born in Murray, Utah on March 14, 1976 to Scott Leon and Kathleen Joy Martineau Richards. He attended and graduated from Hillcrest High School, later serving a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Brazil.

He was a skilled brick and stone mason. His work was always of the highest quality and done with great attention to detail. When it came to any project, he liked to say, “we can make that happen” leading to many great accomplishments.

A loving father, son, brother and friend, Brandon was one who people naturally drew to because of his fun, kind and generous nature. The greatest love in his life was his two beautiful girls – Vivian and Rosemary Annde. They brought him so much joy and happiness and he tried to be the best father he could for them.

With a sincere love of the mountains, Brandon was an outdoorsman! He enjoyed fishing, rafting, skiing, biking and hiking. He loved driving his Toyota Land Cruiser seeing many different sceneries.

Brandon is survived by his parents, Scott and Kathy, daughters Vivian and Rosemary, siblings Kristy and Brad Edgington, Adrienne and Kevin Wall, Greg and Mindy Richards as well as numerous loving nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. He is preceded in passing by his grandparents, Jay and Colleen Martineau and Kenneth John and Vera Richards.

Although his passing has left our hearts broken, we are comforted by his loving nature and the wonderful memories we have of him coupled with the sure knowledge that we will see him again!

Funeral services for Brandon will be held at 11AM on Wednesday, August 9, 2023 at Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary, 1950 East Dimple Dell Road in Sandy, Utah. A viewing will take place at the same location Tuesday evening from 6 to 8PM, as well as Wednesday prior to the funeral services beginning at 10AM. Interment will follow in the Larkin Sunset Gardens Cemetery.

Funeral services will be streamed via Zoom for those wishing to attend the services virtually. To watch the services, please click the “Watch Services” link above.

Guestbook/Condolences

I loved Brandon so much! The world lost such a remarkable person. I dated Brandon in my 20's. He bought my "Big Red" Land Cruiser from me. And that was when our adventures began. After he bought "Big Red", he asked me to go on a date with him, to explain how it operated and "teach him the ropes" - haha! He had such a cute personality. I remember hopping in "Big Red", hanging my high heels on the rear view mirror and heading for adventures with him. We had an absolute blast, no matter what we did. I remember standing in the rain and laughing with him, a few times. It has been funny that it has rained (a few times) since I learned of his loss, as I think of him when I find myself in the rain. He changed me and my life. Brandon was such a gift. I will be forever grateful to him and for him. Sending my best to his little girls, family and friends!
