Our beloved husband, father, son, brother, and friend, Brent Elmo Simmons, passed away unexpectedly on January 20, 2026, at his home in West Jordan, Utah. Brent was born on February 3, 1975, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Maurene Beckstead Leggett and Steven Simmons. As the middle child of five, Brent shared a close and special bond with his siblings. Though he was the middle child they all looked up to him, he taught them, guided them, and joyfully joined in their wild shenanigans, creating lifelong memories filled with laughter and love.
Brent attended Kearns High School before transferring to East High School, where he graduated in 1993. In 1992, he met the love of his life and soulmate, Sara Dale Simmons, and they were married in 1997. Brent was never prouder than when he became a father to his son, Hayden Ender Simmons, in 2001. He was a devoted and loving husband and father, and his family was always his greatest priority. To know Brent was truly to love him.
From a young age, Brent had a deep love for the outdoors. He found peace and joy in nature through camping, hiking, fishing, kayaking, and riding motorcycles—especially alongside his best friend, Laif. Brent had a brilliant and creative mind for woodworking and carpentry, skills he taught himself with patience and passion. He also taught himself to play the ukulele and could often be found practicing a new song whenever he had a quiet moment. Brent was famously obsessed with all things pizza, and anyone lucky enough to taste his homemade creations knew they were made with genuine love and passion.
Brent took great pride in the business he worked in and was known as an extremely hardworking and dedicated professional. He lived with unwavering integrity and cared deeply about doing what was right. He often shared that his goal was simply to do right by the client and to provide the very best product and service possible values that earned him the respect and admiration of all who had the pleasure of working with him.
Brent is survived by his beloved wife, Sara Simmons; his cherished son, Hayden Simmons; his mother, Maurene Beckstead Leggett; his father, Steven Simmons; his siblings: Steven Simmons (Stephanie), Sandy Simmons, Tami Slocum (Chris), and Kenny Simmons; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins whom he dearly loved.
Family meant everything to Brent, and his absence leaves an immeasurable void. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.

Our Dearest Friend, Maurene,

The Angels picked a flower from Life's Garden just today.
A fragile, wilted Lily with petals worn and frayed.
They gently placed the flower in a shiny, golden vase.
In Heaven's Eternal Garden he finally found a place.
He grows there in the garden now with ample sun and shade.
Memories of early life have fast began to fade.
Nurtured by God's loving hand and sheltered from the wind.
His petals glow with Heaven's light as he blossoms once again.
So sorry for your loss.
We are so incredibly sorry for your loss. There are no words that can make this easier, but please know you’re in our thoughts and we are holding you and your family close in our heart.
This was a hard week. I am forever grateful for all of our memories. I am grateful for my cousins and that I grew up with them as my best friends. Brent was such a peacekeeper…just an amazing human. This work is better because of him. Love you all! Love, Travis, Bryn, Noah, Ethan and Gabe.
