  • Brenton Merrill Bauer was born July 29, 1943 in Cedar City, Utah. He passed away in his home on September 10, 2021. He was the son of Brenton A Bauer and Shirley Jane Olds Bauer. As a young boy he enjoyed many adventures in Southern Utah and Henderson, Nevada that inspired him as an adult to write many stories. He liked spending summers helping at his grandparent’s farm.

He served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Los Angeles California Mission 1964-1966.
He began his higher education at College of Southern Utah (CSU now SUU). Later he attended and graduated with his Bachelor’s Degree at Brigham Young University. In 1983, he received his Master’s degree from Utah State University.

While at CSU, he met and married his sweetheart, Nedra Ann Christensen in the Manti Temple. Married 48 years, they lived in Sandy, Utah where they raised their 2 boys, Brandon and Gary. Brenton taught school 38 years for the Granite School District. He retired after working many years at Plymouth Elementary where he loved teaching 3rd, 5th and 6th grade. He enjoyed painting with water colors, reading and writing stories, listening to music, watching British television and movies of all kinds. He loved preparing feasts for family and friends which many will tell you how much they loved and craved his cooking. He loved being a Papa to Reed and Shane. He and Nedra would read with them, watch TV and make annual trips to see the witches at Gardner Village. With family and friends, he enjoyed playing Rook and Dominoes.

He is survived by his son Gary (Marci), grandsons Reed and Shane, brother Kim (Larry), sister Carla (John) and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife Nedra, son Brandon J and his parents, Brenton A and Shirley.

    Guestbook/Condolences

    Uncle Brent,

Thank you for the wonderful example you have been to me throughout my life. I so loved visiting your home when my family would come to Utah for vacations and when I could sneak away from BYU for weekend visits.

I am forever changed by your warmth, hospitality, stories, meals, and overall zest for life. I credit you for my lifelong love of Christmas decorating, Broadway Musicals, amazing shows like "Auntie Mame" with larger than life characters, and getting me to finally read Harry Potter. I also remember your laughter when I was hooked and I couldn't put those books down.

Your love and unfailing devotion to Aunt Nedra is a "North Star" example for all boys and men to study and follow. Thank you for lighting the way.

Thank you for truly making your corner of the world a better place and inspiring the rest of us to be a little kinder and to live a little better and to always "Dream the Impossible Dream."

I love you and miss you terribly.

    Dale Christensen (Nephew)
