Donna Louise Bell Johnson, 79, of Salt Lake City, UT, passed away on Wednesday, September 24, 2014. She was born in Salt Lake City on June 22, 1935 to George and Geneva Fox Bell, and attended Sumner Elementary, Lincoln Jr. High and South High School, class of 1953.
Donna was delivered by her mother, who was alone at home, and was presented as a gift to her siblings when they returned home from school. She met and married her best friend, Dean R. Johnson, on June 18, 1955. They bought a home in Rose Park and lived there the rest of their lives. Donna was blessed with three great children, and she was a loving, nurturing mother and wife. The most important thing in her life was her family and her favorite memories were of family trips shared together.
Donna loved to read, crochet, golf and collect clown figurines. She worked at Sperry Univac from 1972 to 1994 and enjoyed working with people from all parts of the world. After retirement, she enjoyed traveling with friends, often going snowbirding in Arizona. Donna loved to spend time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She had a great run and a happy life with many extremely good friends.
Donna lived a life of service, volunteering for the PTA, the March of Dimes and Primary Children's Hospital. She served on the Primary Children's Hospital volunteer board for ten years.
Donna is survived by her son Byron (Judy), daughter-in-law Mary, siblings Ron, Michael (Leslie) and Joan (Bill) Nienke, grandchildren Andy, Amber, Becky, Brad and Alex, and great grandchildren Lilli and Alexis. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, children Paul and Jana, sibling Beth (Clyde) Haslam and grandchildren Candice and Katie.
A viewing will be held on Sunday, September 28 from 6 to 8 pm at Larkin Mortuary at 260 East South Temple in Salt Lake. The funeral will be held on Monday, September 29 at 10 am, also at Larkin Mortuary. Friends and family may call one hour prior to the funeral. Interment will be at Bountiful Memorial Park Cemetery at 2224 South 200 West in Bountiful.
