Betty Joyce Booth

1934 ~ 2015

Betty "Babbit" Joyce Carlsen Booth, beautiful and loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and great grandmother passed away at her home surrounded by her family and loved ones on September 18, 2015 after a courageous battle with cancer. She left peacefully as she was reunited with her Father in Heaven and her forever soul-mate, Phillip Edward Booth.

Born to Melvin Richard Carlsen and Lizzie Verona Hardcastle on December 12, 1934 in Salt Lake City, Utah. She graduated from Murray High School in 1952 and shortly after met her first love and the love of her life, Phillip Edward Booth, and they were married May, 9 1953. Together they were blessed with raising 5 children.

She is survived by 3 siblings: Richard Carlsen, Barbara Nuzman and Carolyn Golson, 4 children: Phillip (Suzie) Booth, Deborah Oeser, Robert (Tonya) Booth, and Laurie (Hans) Anderson, 12 grandchildren: Brandon, Blair, Jimmy, Jeramy, Monica, Danielle, Nathan, Amanda, Alan, Michael, Erik , Austin, Kyle Ann and Craig with 8 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her son David Lynn Booth, daughter-in-law Kareen Booth, two sons-in-law Lewis K. Jensen and Gary Oeser, brothers Melvin and Keith Carlsen and her husband Phillip Edward Booth.

Betty was a loving, hard working, kind and devoted spirit who put her family first. Early in their marriage, she held various service related jobs to help support her husband while he attended college. A lifelong housewife she embraced motherhood wholeheartedly and together her and Phillip provided their children with things they believed mattered most: Love, security, support and encouragement. She was filled with joy when helping and serving others. She enjoyed hosting family gatherings and welcomed all guests into her home with open arms and a home cooked meal.

Betty was fortunate enough to live in several different states and countries as a result of her Husband's role in the service. She had a love for travel and some of her fondest memories were of the many family vacations they all took together. As she would say, "I've had a wonderful life!"

She had a love for the beautiful outdoors. She enjoyed golf, bowling, gardening, and cooking, but her greatest joy came from supporting her grandchildren in whatever activity they were involved in. Later in life she found a passion for collecting rocks and treasures. She had a heart-ticking love and crush on John Wayne and spent hours watching his movies.

If you were fortunate enough to meet Betty, you know that her laugh, smile and kind heart will never be forgotten. Our lives have been touched by her beautiful soul and we are forever grateful for having her in our lives.
