Joseph Richard Larsen, 88, died Sept 2, 2014, due to complications associated with heart disease.

Richard was born September 20, 1925 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Joseph Hyrum and Josephine Pauline Targhetta. He married Bonnie Ruth Wittwer on Dec 27, 1949 in the Salt Lake Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He and Bonnie have three children, 14 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren.

Richard served in the Army Air Corp during World War II. After graduating from the University of Utah, Richard took a job as a school teacher. However, for most of his life, Richard worked for Westinghouse Electrical Supply Company. His career took the family from Utah to Pittsburgh, Honolulu, San Francisco, Albuquerque, Phoenix, and Fresno where he retired.

Richard was dedicated to the Church. He served as a missionary in the Southern States Mission, and as a teacher, youth leader, and Bishop.

Richard is survived by his wife, Bonnie; his children and their spouses, Linda and Brent Snelgrove of Centennial, CO, Jeff and Margaret Larsen of Salt Lake City, UT, and Doug and Heidi Larsen of Clovis, CA; and his sisters Margaret Crown of Sacramento, CA, Janett (and Albert) Mayo of Farmington, UT, and Annabelle (and Jay) Timpson of West Valley City, UT.

The funeral service will be held at noon on Saturday, Sept13that the Larkin Sunset Lawn, 2350 E. 1300 S., SLC, UT. A viewing will be held from 10:30 to 11:45.
