With deep sorrow, our beloved husband, father, brother and friend, James Lester Beers passed away at his home on the morning of July 8, 2016 after a long illness. He was surrounded by his loving wife Carol and family.
He was born on February 19, 1939 in Provo, Utah to Elmo "Doc" Beers and Dorothy Kirkwood Beers. He was the oldest of 6 children. His family moved to Lindon, Utah where he attended elementary school in Pleasant Grove and graduated from Pleasant Grove High School with the class of ‘57. He attended classes at Utah Valley Technical College. He married Joanne Ivers and moved to Bountiful, Utah in 1959. Jim and Joanne had two children, Darrin James and Jennifer. They later divorced. He went to work for Sperry Engineering, which later became Unisys where he was employed as a Quality Control Inspector. He met and married Carol Peterson Eborn in 1978 and became the father of 5 children Gina, Dale, Tammy, Lori and Lana.
Jim had a special love of all things unique and enjoyed photographing and regaling everyone with his newest finds. While we did not always share the same appreciation for his newest acquisition, we loved the sparkle in his eyes and the excitement in his voice that it brought.
Jim is survived by his wife Carol, children, Gina L. Eborn, Darrin Beers, Dale (Julie) Eborn, Jennifer Beers, Tammy (Jarremy) Morgan, Lori (Scott) Abeyta and Lana (Rob) Leishman, two brothers, Tom and Roy (Jarolyn) and his sister Sallie (Val) Shields. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, Shelby, Kaylee, Abigail (Abby), Connor, Bryana, Mollie, Elizabeth, Audrey, Olivia, Adrianna, Dylan and his fur baby Felix "tiny boy". Preceded in death by his parents, Elmo and Dorothy Beers, two brothers Steve and Robert and one grandson Logan Eborn.
A memorial celebration of Jim's life will be held on Saturday, July 16, 2016 from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East Dimple Dell Road (10600 South), Sandy, Utah.
