Don passed away Oct. 27, 2014 in Sandy, Utah. He was born Dec. 6, 1934 in Las Vegas Nevada to Donald and Helen Johnson. He was the Jr. Golf Champion at age 13 and was on the All State Basketball Team in his Sr. year, graduating from East High in 1953.
Don was the 1983 Rocky Mountain Section P.G.A. Professional of the Year, 1986 Utah Section P.G.A. Teacher of the Year, Utah P.G.A. Senior Champion 1985 through 1987, and was the Head Golf Professional at Hidden Valley Country Club for 30 years. He was a fan of NBA Basketball and the Utah Jazz and was an avid fly fisherman.
Don's happiest memories were of being a father, grandfather and great grandfather and being married to Phyllis Hindman for 58 years. He is survived by Phyllis, 4 children, Katherine, Daniel, Timothy, and Michael; 6 grandchildren, Jessica, David, Chase, Hayley, Miles and Parker and 2 great-grandchildren Crue and Rex.
Memorial services will be held Thursday, Oct. 30, at 2pm in the Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary, 1950 E. Dimple Dell Rd. (10600 S.) Sandy. Interment, Larkin Sunset Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the St. James Altar Guild, 7486 Union Park Avenue, Midvale, Utah 84047.
