Apr 19, 2023 5:30 PM - 8:30 PM

On Saturday, February 11th, 2023, Calvin Donald Jones, loving husband and father of 3 children, passed away at the age of 76.

Calvin was born on April 19th, 1946 in Alamosa, Colorado to Charles and Deiaon (Funk) Jones. He later moved to Utah and eventually joined the Army National Guard where he served for 12 years as a Linesman. During that time he met the love of his life, Vicki Rushton, and they were married on August 1st, 1969. They raised 3 wonderful children, Calvin, David, and Carly.

Calvin was a true butcher from the age of 23 until retirement. His passion for the art of meat-cutting extended to numerous friends and family to whom he taught the trade. He even co-created a new technology for band saws to improve the quality of meat.

Calvin loved golf, supporting local music, and getting his favorite street tacos with his daughter. His smile would light up the room and he was a great friend to everyone, especially in his music community. He was known as Thadeus Funk and was a true inspiration to many. We are always reminded to enjoy life and spread love and good vibes thanks to him.

Calvin was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, his children, his siblings Judy Gates, Mike Jones, Robert (Arlene) Jones, Paul Jones (Lori), Beth (Steve) Sadleir, and many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.

A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, April 19th from 5:30 to 8:30 PM located at 530 East 8680 South, Sandy. Donations can be made to Venmo @CalvinJonesFund and GoFundMe https://gofund.me/777a4382
