I had only worked at Sunridge for a few months before she passed, but she quickly made me feel welcome and was the sweetest person ever, no matter if I was working her floor or not she’d always stop and chat with me and gave me the sweetest “gratitude card” she will be deeply missed 💗

Obituary
Camille Kay Thomas, beloved daughter, sister, aunt, and family historian, passed away peacefully on May 13, 2026, in West Jordan, Utah.
Born on February 5, 1954, in Salt Lake City, Utah, Camille was the daughter of Verna Avanell Thomas and Wallace Lawrence Thomas. She always had a deep love for family, her faith, and service, and treasured her gift with genealogy.
Camille is survived by her siblings, Marsha (Mel) Tabor, Judy (Brent) Marshall, and Dave Thomas, along with many nieces, grandnieces, grandnephews, and extended family who were touched by her kindness and dedication.
From an early age, Camille served in the church nursery alongside her mother. She went from a participant to a coach in the Special Olympics, demonstrating selfless love for all people. However, her true passion lay in family history. She dedicated decades to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints’ Family History Library in Brigham City and Logan, helping countless individuals discover their ancestry. In 2003, she moved to Sandy to live with her sister Judy and brother-in-law Brent, fulfilling her dream of serving as a full-time missionary at the Family History Library headquarters in Salt Lake City. She faithfully served there until 2020 and then continued her work at the Granite Family Search Center in Sandy for two more years.
Camille resided with Judy and Brent for 21 years, until 2023, when she moved to an apartment at Sunridge Assisted Living in West Jordan. She spent her final years at Sunridge, where she made many new friends and was known as the “Gratitude Lady.” She was a source of warmth and inspiration to those around her and was a genuinely kind soul.
Her life was a testament to devotion—to family, to service, and to the preservation of memories across generations. Camille’s gentle spirit, dedication to her faith, and passion for connecting people to their ancestors will be fondly remembered by all who knew her.

Tributes
Working at Sunridge allowed me to know Camille, and to know that she was the sweetest and the most devoted in her faith, which was beautiful to see. I always felt the love of God flowing from her kindness whenever I was around her. She will forever be missed at Sunridge and in our hearts.
Camille has always been so sweet! She’s always the one to thank everyone. After every event, dinner or even a drive she’d always be the one to say thank you and god bless. I have spent times chatting with Camille at Sunridge and she taught me a lot. She was so true to her faith and was an amazing person. Sure going to miss her!
Camille was very sweet to me. I had only met her a couple times but each time she'd tell me I was "the best." I admired her commitment to family history and have been inspired to focus more on keeping a record of my own family because of her.
I was a visiting teacher for Camille and her mother in the Lakeview ward in Brigham. Camille was always so sweet and thoughtful! It was a joy to know her!
I have never met a person with so much gratitude in my life
Camille was a sweetheart in our Dimple Dell Park Ward. You couldn’t help but love her- her friendliness and amazing spirit. We looked forward to fast Sundays to hear her bear testimony of family history and some of the amazing experiences she had. So thankful for her family taking her in so we could be privileged to know her❤️. I bet she is having a heyday in heaven meeting all the people she has blessed! Fly high, sweet friend!
