Carlye Kimball

1947 ~ 2022

Carlye Jane Kimball passed away on March 17, 2022, in West Jordan, UT. She was born on August 15, 1947, in Salt Lake City, UT to Harold and Jane Kimball.

Carlye was an equestrian, skier, and all-around sports enthusiast. She was accomplished in every sport she played. Of course, her first love was always her horses. She showed American Saddlebreds, Morgans, Arabians, Tennessee Walking Horses, Quarter Horses, and Thoroughbreds. She moved easily form Western classes to jumping classes. She was a force to be reckoned with when she entered the show ring. Many times, she soundly defeated professional trainers. Carlye was always willing to share her knowledge of horsemanship. Many a novice rider were grateful for her help and insight.

When MS ended her riding, she never lost her love of horses. Wherever she lived, she adorned the walls with photographs of her beloved horses and dogs.

Carlye was courageous to the end and was always determined to carry on. As a person, Carlye was very loving, special, and unique. She will be greatly missed by so many.

She is survived by her brother Andy Kimball. Preceded in death by her parents.

No formal services will be held. Please share a favorite memory of Carlye at larkincares.com.

Guestbook/Condolences

I will always be grateful to Carlye. She was quirky and fun, and a wonderful equestrian and teacher. I'm happy she is free but am sad she is gone. Condolences to Andy, her brother, and Jody, who was Carlye's friend for more than 60 years. She had so much courage in fighting MS, and I'm certain she has found all her beautiful animals and they are happily galloping through green pastures.

Hello, Andy, I knew Carlye when I lived in Salt Lake and worked for my uncle, Buzz Marden. I was a vet tech for him and we worked on her horses every year. She was always so nice to me, and she was friends with my dear friend, Jody Tuft. Jody kept me in touch with Carlye when she was in respite care and I always enjoyed sending Carlye funny horse photos to cheer her up! I'm so sorry she isn't here any more, but in my mind and prayers she is riding through Heaven with Vickie on all their favorite horses. I'm glad I had some time with her in my life, and will always remember her as a strong spirit and deep lover of horses.

Carley was my first English Eq trainer. She was fun to work with, albeit tough at times, but always kind & she cared about making me a better rider. My condolences to her family. I hope she’s once again riding all her great horses in heaven. Rest In Peace Carlye.

I remember Carlye, my beautiful cousin, from childhood, and in horse arena, and the ski slopes, and then in the last years, when she always kept up her spirits, and was always a joy to see or talk to. I'm sure she is now in a better place.

I remember Carlye fondly as a childhood neighbor and a friend. In our long shared driveway, she taught me how to ride a bicycle. Later, she taught me the basics of riding and caring for a horse at the Cottonwood Club. I've never forgotten her kindness and generosity.
